Looks like it's actually 12 between 2019 and 2025: CA, CT, IN, MA, ME, MS, MT, NC, ND, NY, SC, and WV (Montgomery doubled since 2019, so you're going to...Alderson!).

This goes back to the 19th century and rags like the National Police Gazette.
If John Keating isn't on the opening show we riot.
You could get 21% to support anything; it might as well be 0%. That's at least 10 points under his usual approval rating, which means a decent part of the lunatic base doesn't like it. Iran's been a punching bag for the US since 1979 but there's no effort to prepare the ground with the public.
"I thought the joke was distasteful & unfortunate, & I think the way women are represented, it's a great teaching point to really shine light on how women should be championed for their amazing feats. Now I have to sit in front of you and explain someone else's behavior? It's not my responsibility."
Hilary Knight got the question re: that phone call and the laughter at the Torrent presser. Her answer:
Have we considered the possibility that the school, the consultant, or both, used AI to write the reports, or at least the underlying data? There's a lot of that at the executive level these days, and the school leadership might not question favorable figures.
Great, great read. If you liked Hatchet you'll like this one.
"What is Germany?" is the modern European history final question from hell. Be concise, yet specific.

Three nights on Amtrak. The part west of Denver has gorgeous scenery.
Grew up a CMU fan and this one legit makes me mad. I can sort of excuse Amherst, somehow...but Sacramento? Blech.
Is this "the director's kink is fully on-screen" territory? Because that's usually interesting, even when the result isn't objectively good.
The rough midpoint between Sacramento and Amherst is Lincoln, Nebraska, which is west of every other school in the MAC.
After a brief memorial, laz lit the cigarette at 6:00am. The 2026 Barkley Marathons has begun. #BM100
State find some used rolling stock yet? Not like there's a lot on the open market right now.

This scene is great for many reasons, not the least of which is legendary bit player Reg Thomason getting actual lines ("My wife *is* at home!")
A polaroid of me, Mickey Lolich, and my brother in 1984
Rest in peace Mickey Lolich.
This is when my brother and I met him at his Lake Orion donut shop in early 1984. He wasn't even at the shop that day but when we showed up they called him and he came in anyway because a couple of kids wanted to meet him. He was a hell of a nice guy.
I love a good Heisenbug.

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.
congratulations to rogue bus guy on the new job

If LLMs really are an "indisputable breakthrough" (as the document says) then it seems odd to have a section designed to specifically foreclose disagreement with that premise. I suppose there's some worth in telling people upfront that their input isn't wanted.
