Yep, thanks. I don't know how I'd verify whether it was for real or not, but not what the list is for at least.
We saw the automation picked up at least one account that may be a scam. We're conflicted, but the moderation list is meant to target trolling behavior and determining scams is out of scope and expertise.
We may reevaluate later.
It's been fun taking this on as a hobby project and having an excuse to learn the atproto ecosystem!
Switching from polling to Jetstream for faster response and better scalability. ๐
Wow! Cool to see how much adoption this tool has picked up! We may need to rename it as it has definitely picked up usage beyond the original chaos magick community! ๐
Hi @hautmonde.bsky.social @sethanikeem.bsky.social,
Automation noted what looks like harassment/trolling activity on your accounts. If you want, there is a this moderation list you can use to automatically block these accounts.
Image showing Skyfeed block to remove list of users using the list uri at://did:plc:mxahhap6h24rtzziebexurvu/app.bsky.graph.list/3mb5a6tkrok2o
If you use skyfeed.app to manage your feeds, you can add our moderation list by adding a "Remove" block. Select "List of Users" and for the "List URI" use: at://did:plc:mxahhap6h24rtzziebexurvu/app.bsky.graph.list/3mb5a6tkrok2o
Be sure to include this after any "Remember Posts" block.
The point is that this isn't perfect, but it makes the harassment disappear unless we get drawn into intentionally looking at it. We are the audience for the harassment. Nobody else reads these accounts. Nobody is following them.
Blocking will not prevent:
โข Someone from seeing posts; all posts are public.
โข Someone from taking a screenshot of posts and responding indirectly here or on other platforms.
โข The moderation list abuse we've seen, though abuse/harassment lists are not effective and can be reported and taken down.
The purpose of this moderation list:
โข Block spam and abusive activity so we don't see them.
โข Prevent posts from promoting the same spam and abuse.
โข Use in feed configuration to prevent feeds from promoting the same.
โข Provide a record of activity if needed.
He's obsessive with no self control. He compulsively spends an inordinate amount of time reading posts like this one. He can't help responding. He's brain broken. Notice how he must respond and how his responses echo whatever is said about him. He's controlled by this dynamic he's established.
Also... even posting about a blocked account is a sort of promotion of it? and may encourage the trolling?
Should I update the automation to post about new account blocks? If so... should it expose why it was blocked? I wouldn't want to expose anything that would assist in evasion... ๐ค
At the very least Bluesky should not promote a moderation list created by an account with no followers, posts, likes, etc that was just created a few minutes ago. The algorithm for Discover should take these things into account.
@safety.bsky.app
GitHub is where the source code for Bluesky lives. As we're dealing with a design flaw in the platform it is the most direct way to get attention for getting it fixed somehow. The most troubling thing seems to have been that one of the lists actually popped up in some people's Discover feed?
Here is likely one of best places to document and report this pattern of abuse of moderation lists:
github.com/bluesky-soci...
I will add a check for these, but ๐คท
He's not exactly interacting here and these lists are not something someone would subscribe to. We are the audience and he's only doing this because it gets a response from us.
Public service annoucement:
This list you subscribed to was created by a troll to attack queer, left, and witchy communities. Check the members on in.

A couple more people taken in by a bogus "MAGA" list. That list was created by a known abuser hostile to our community. Please investigate and consider removing that moderation list from your blocks.
@autumnalequniox.bsky.social @snarkytwin.bsky.social
The upside of it this time is that his lists have actually helped a lot of people find each other and connect. I think from here, well, it's just irrelevant if he keeps creating lists.
Yep yep. Same old nonsense. @safety.bsky.app are you ever going to actually take abuse of moderation lists seriously?
I mean... I don't see his shit on my feed and frankly I don't think anyone sees it. Like these lists he's making that nobody subscribes to. He's more than welcome to throw posts and replies into the void.
Ah, I see. It just created another copy of the bogus moderation list.
How did you spot that one? It looks like it hasn't had any activity at all yet?
Cool, thanks! I've reached out to @trollblocker.bsky.social to compare notes.
Yep! It's automation running on an old laptop. It catches sock puppet accounts using a simple algorithm. From time to time it picks up other weird accounts and the occasional false positive that I remove. It'll automatically start protecting accounts of anyone who subscribes to the list. ๐
Hi, @underthefan119.bsky.social it looks like you fell for this bogus moderation list. Please take a look at the information here and the accounts he put on the list. It was clearly created as targeted harassment of this community.
If you're curious, here's a way to see who is subscribed to that list. Looks like just one person, @cartoonbeardy.bsky.social that has been taken in by it. Curious where they saw it.
This is a known abuser of the platform. @bluecipherwyrm.bsky.social is his main. He creates endless alt accounts for targeted harassment. It is some shit about the anger charging his crystals or magic or something. Anyway, report it. This list tracks his alt accounts and a few similar bad actors.
