We really have to stop settling for subpar software. My app to connect to my car always sais all windows are opened.

My partner just shrugs it off and sais ‘these things have issues’

I find it unacceptable… the one time it’s real I’ll shrug it off…

This is such a great addition. Do you think it's possible to filter GitHub issues/ PRs by organization? Would make it simpler to have personal and work live folders.

Creating Query Abstractions Building reusable abstractions on top of libraries that rely on type inference can be deceptively difficult, which is why we need better ways to build those abstractions ...

📚 Creating thin abstractions is easy, until you’re trying to build them on top of functions that heavily rely on generics. Then it can quickly turn into a nightmare.

I wrote about the tradeoffs of wrapping useQuery and why type inference makes this trickier than it looks.

Today is probably a fine day to mention that I've been working on a self-hostable Discordslacklike called Chatto. It's steadily moving towards feature parity with the big kids, with everything crammed into a single compact 50 MB executable that can run off the cheapest VM you can find.

Exclusive | SpaceX Seeks Early Index Entry as It Prepares Massive IPO Advisers to company CEO Elon Musk have reached out to major index providers seeking ways to secure earlier inclusion in market benchmarks to lift shares

The point for SpaceX is once it's in mainstream indexes, index investors functionally are forced to buy. They cannot sell. And since Musk will control voting, they will have no rights at all. Functionally forced to supply capital.

Initializing @Observable classes within the SwiftUI hierarchy Learn the recommended ways to initialize and store @Observable classes in SwiftUI views, and see what can go wrong when observable state is managed incorrectly.

Using @Observable is great, but it has one small caveat. The initializer of the @Observable objects will be called multiple times, even with @State

@nilcoalescing.com's excellent article covers that topic in more detail.
