Israelis who refuse the IDF's mandatory draft on the basis of conscientious objection are often arrested and jailed. After they are released, they are subject to ongoing social isolation and discrimination for taking a principled stand against Israel's unjust wars and occupations.

βOne Life at a Timeβ was inspired by the 2025 Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land. They wrote it for Palestinian Awdah Hathaleen, a consultant on the film, who was killed in his West Bank village by an Israeli settler. The title of the song comes from a line that No Other Land filmmaker Basel Adra said at his funeral. βOne life at a time is kinda an existential suggestion,β Bono says. βWe can change the world for the better or for the worseβ¦one life at a time.β
Also see this @rollingstone.com article about the surprise release of the EP: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
For more information on the song, see U2's zine released alongside the EP "Days of Ash" (which includes five other songs): propaganda.u2.com
(flip to page 32 for the lyrics to Awdah's song)
Awdah was a father of three children and nonviolent activist for his community Umm Al-Khair. He was murdered by an Israeli settler last July.
We hope this song will be a way for more people to learn Awdah's story and carry his legacy forward. π₯
Thank you, U2, for this beautiful tribute to our friend Awdah Hathaleen!!! β€οΈπΆπΈ

...and also the new growth of young leaves of our progressivism.
* The style also recalls papercuts, a traditional Jewish art form
Yashar koach, Yavni, for winning our logo contest and working closely with us to finalize the design!
* A tree limb, symbolically representing the Torah: Χ’Χ₯ ΧΧΧΧ ΧΧΧ
* The tree is specifically an olive tree, for the prominent role it plays in solidarity work in the West Bank for many in our community
* The tree conveys the ancient rootedness of our commitment to traditional Judaism...
Halachic Left's new logo, which consists of a colorblock design forming an H (resembling a sefer Torah) and L (resembling a daf). The color blocks are shades of purple, with the exception of the center block of the L/daf which is yellow. Out of this block grows an olive branch cutout with yellow leaves growing leftward and covering part of the H/sefer Torah. Below the logo is the text "HALACHIC LEFT" in capital letters, with "LEFT" off-center to the left and light purple rectangular blocks filling in the space on either side.
Now weβre stepping forward as an established community thatβs here for the long haul.
In designer Yavni Bar-Yamβs words, the logo includes these design elements:
* The initials βHLβ
* A Torah scroll (the H), and a daf of Gemara (the L), representing both ΧͺΧΧ¨Χ Χ©ΧΧΧͺΧ ΧΧͺΧΧ¨Χ Χ©ΧΧ’Χ Χ€Χ
