Will do :)
Will do :)
Ah, okay - thanks for the heads up! Apparently there's a manga adaptation of the first novel too which is available on Kodansha's K Manga site - called A Raven for All Seasons? - I think I'll check that out
Okay Iβm sold
Tbh had I no need to write a bunch of code, run OCI containers et al., then the MacBook Neo would be perfect for my needs. I think people are underestimating just how well suited Apple's A-series chips are for everyday, general purpose computing
I'm currently replaying Yakuza 0 and it really is brilliant in every way. Well worth your time!
Scratches the Robin Hobb itch? Okay I'm intrigued π
Evergreen post: Jasprit Bumrah is an incredible bowler
From a technical perspective, if there were three things I'd encourage people who build and contribute to enterprise systems learn about and try to apply, it's the principles of domain-driven design, evolutionary architecture, and patterns of enterprise architecture
Why are all these smug fucks naming their evil companies after Lord of the Rings terms? Tolkien would despise everything you stand for!
The MacBook Neo will be a popular laptop, most likely converting a number of people who are weary of Windows 11 and have fairly standard computing needs. However, it does feel like this is Apple's way of admitting the ipad - and ipadOS - has failed to capture this segment
So happy for you π congrats!
Iβm still gutted Google discontinued the Chromecast Audio. It was a brilliant bit of kit
When I look at the Premier League now I always think how few teams get thrashed. Thereβs no comparison between that Derby team that set a record low for points and Wolves now. The technical and tactical level is such that even the bottom team looks decent at times.
Going to assume theyβve not seen any of Arsenalβs champions league games this season. Turns out when teams set up more openly, Arsenal play differently!
Sweet, glad to hear itβs a good one!
Having finished listening to Led Zeppelin IV for the umpteenth time in the last few weeks, Iβve come to the realisation that I should probably try and be more adventurous with the music I listen to
Yes that too! The morning train snooze is a common occurrence on the days when Luna has decided I need to be woken up multiple times throughout the night
Reading on the train is great for me cos my commute to and from St Pancras is like over an hour. But sometimes Iβm knackered and just want to aimlessly scroll social media, WhatsApp mates or w/e. One isnβt morally superior to the other and itβs v annoying that people try to make it so!
7 year old me who spent Christmas Day 1999 taking on Brock with no understanding of type effectiveness and a level 18 Charmeleon appreciates this
Anyway, those are just some initial, high-level thoughts from reading the insights piece. I could be massively off-base. More research and exploration is warranted
Introducing Agentic AI to systems comprised of big ball of mud architectures, weakly encoded business rules, ill-defined system boundaries and no clean interfaces feels like an organisational risk. The structural weaknesses of the system is subsequently amplified
So, doubling down on DDD (domain-driven design) principles to precisely model the domain, leveraging hexagonal architecture to insulate business rules, entities and invariants etc., and viewing any agentic system as an external actor
Read DSITβs AI Insights piece on Agentic AI. Havenβt used such tools before, so Iβm probably speaking from relative ignorance, but 1) unsure of its utility in a lot of problem spaces, and 2) where it is applicable, protecting the integrity and clarity of the business domain feels triply important
Seiko Cocktail Time Sakura Aviation. It has a steel bracelet and a mother of pearl dial that reflects a pinkish hue
Visited a jewellery shop in Worcester and I think this, the Sakura Aviation, is one of the most stunning watches from the Seiko Cocktail Time collection Iβve seen. Love the versatility Seiko have shown
Who programmed these systems? Gandhi?!

this is good from Tom, who has spent many years thinking about what good digital services should look like. AI isn't just shitty images and oddly written garbage - agentic AI is super-interesting and *polishes crystal ball* could transform how we interact with gov/commercial/retail/etc entities
AI agents will join up government before government joins up government. This may be a mixed blessing.
Blog post. with some reflections about my recent agentic adventures:

I thought I was going to get a lot of reading done this week off work, but what Iβve mostly done is replay Yakuza 0 on the Steam Deck (itβs very good)
I canβt quite explain it, but the Azalea Town theme from Pokemon Gold/Silver does something for me that no other track from the series is able to
