Having Blood Elf Druids manifest as a combination of Farstriders and Magisters like Taemin is a *great* way of distinguishing them from night elves, I'm so happy with this.
This Farstrider quest is almost TOO blatant in how obviously it's setting up Blood Elf Druids.
Literal spirits of the forest healing from the damage done by the Scourge, I really can't imagine anything else for the upcoming Horde race/class combo other than this.

this is confirmed by the fact that the rootwalking animation.... is their dance. they could have given them a separate ritual dance animation. i just don't get it
like indigenous dances are all so complex and theres millions of them because each group of people will have multiple dances that happen in different situations. not all of them are "ritual" (depends on what a ritual encompasses. to some, going out to the club is a ritual) +
instead directly depends upon it to land as something "fitting for a tribal race without contact", with the added implication that such a tribe utilizes hallucinogens in incomprehensible rituals, too, in our real world, and don't have cultural dance
it feels unempathetic and ill-fitting to me
that are in direct conversation to the representation of hallucinogenic use in cultures of our real world.
my thoughts, in conclusion, are that this dance is an empty try at a more "culturally fitting dance" for the haranir that doesn't challenge the presumed whiteness of the audience and +
relevant to the race in-universe, and another a reference to some famous singer or movie. if this had been a conscious choice to signal that the other races have some awareness of "our pop culture" and thus breaking the fourth wall that the haranir lack, they wouldn't have added features to it +
(as in the case of blood elf females with Toxic), these are generally presented in a scale of proximity and separation to anglo-european whiteness.
If this had been a conscious choice to be more respectful to the cultures they emulate, they'd let us pick between two sets of dances: one culturally +
instead, they're often a nod to some sort of external (doylist) link between the framing of the race-gender intersection the dance applies to and a real life cultural movement. whether meant to be amusing (gnomes, male tauren) or commenting on certain characteristics of the intersection +
when most every other race has pop culture references for their /dance emote, the haranir (and male trolls) are singled out as culturally other. The problem is that nowhere in the game (to my knowledge) are those dance emotes said to be culturally relevant to the races that perform them +
