Platner's strongest supporters are not on the far Left. They're nationalists; their idea of the working class is an anti-marxist cultural nationalist fetish: "the white, male working class."

Platner's candidacy is consistent with a view that it's electorally necessary to appeal to Trump supporters — indeed, fascists. He's their proof of concept.

For the gullible, these repeated incidents are dismissed as oopsies; for others, they're digwhistles.
