Labour’s Section 28 is here – act now
This consultation currently applies south of the border, but would Scottish Labour do better? In May 1988, the Conservative government introduced Section 28. This legal measure outlawed support for…
Following an escalating moral panic and extremist rhetoric against trans people & non-binary people the Labour government looks set to introduce its own version of Section 28, in the form of “keeping children safe in education” in England:

NHS closed Tavistock over care complaints – there were only eight
An eye-opening FOI report has revealed that just eight people complained about the Tavistock gender clinic's care provision in 10 years.
In a functional country, this would be a scandal. A service suffering only from chronic underfunding was ripped apart because the media created a myth of 1000s of complaints of malpractice. The truth - as in my family’s experience - was very different.

A purple rectangle graphic with white text that says "When any pupil goes to school they should be able to do so safely, have appropriate toilet and changing facilities they can use, and be listened to and have their identity respected. This has become much harder for trans pupils because of two court cases that happened last year, and subsequent changes made to Scottish Government guidance on including trans pupils in school." Stop Sex Matters infiltrating the Council of Europe
In just one week, the Council of Europe will be voting to ban conversion therapy. This would be an incredibly important step to stop the rollback in the rights of LGBTQI+ people. But Sex Matters is in...
URGENT:
Very important action by @goodlawproject.bsky.social
Transphobes are trying to infiltrate the Council of Europe to roll back LGBTQ+ human rights by writing en masse to MPs on the CoE.
Please use this tool to write to those MPs to counter this.
Do it now. We have a week.
Please share.

Despite reposting the call to arms below, I didn’t act on it until a few minutes ago.
Why? Because it felt too hard and overwhelming.
It was SO EASY.
Add your name to the letter now. If you choose not to write anything individual it will take less than a minute ❤️

This is why your help is important.

We sent a formal complaint to the BBC over its repeated misgendering of trans people and use of terms like “biological male”. We’ve also written to the Women and Equalities Committee, DCMS, and the Minister for Women and Equalities. Now we need community action.

A blue graphic titled "Canute's Folly: A sonnet for my transfeminine sisters." In the centre is an image with the text "Resisting Transphobia in Edinburgh: Supreme Injustice! Community Response to Supreme Court Ruling." A preview below reads: "Forbid the ocean from her rightful name, Your fingers tracing curses in the foam..." Below in smaller text: "Read for free on rtie.org ✦ Link in bio." The graphic below is decorated with pearls, an anchor, blue coral, a blue shell, and a whale's tail.
I had the privilege of contributing a poem to @rtie.org's Supreme Injustice zine. I wrote a sonnet inspired by the indelible beauty of my transfeminine sisters/siblings, because god, do they deserve a love poem.

The far right are the real threat to women’s rights On 1st November 2025 Resisting Transphobia in Edinburgh (RTiE) led a demonstration to support and protect Scotland’s transgender community …
We were there for collective liberation. We were there to resist hateful attempts to legislate trans people out of public life. We were there to resist the far-right’s misogynist attempts to control women’s and trans people’s bodies.

WE DECIDE OUR OWN FATE!
TURN OUT FOR COLLECTIVE LIBERATION.
SHOW TERFS THAT THEY CANNOT DIVIDE US.
RESIST THE FAR-RIGHT'S MISOGYNIST ATTEMPTS TO CONTROL WOMEN'S AND TRANS PEOPLE'S BODIES.
Slide reads:
WHY
199 days on from the Supreme Court ruling, Women Won't Wheesht are planning a protest at the Scottish Parliament on 1st November.
Their TERF project is an attack on progressive feminism and a dangerous dead end in the fight against the far right, who are the real threat to women and girls.
The transphobes have been utterly silent in recent weeks on the rash of far right protests across Scotland, including the Tommy Robinson rally, while we act in community with all oppressed groups.
TERFs may have been emboldened by the Supreme Court Ruling, but so have we. Just a few days later, we marched through Edinburgh to express our rage, our community's resilience, and our commitment to keep fighting for trans liberation as part of progressive feminism.
That march was only the start.
When we fight for liberation, we fight for everyone.
We cannot let them win.
Slide reads:
HOW
Bring your flags, banners, signs, megaphones and drums.
Listen to messages of solidarity, resilience and hope from Edinburgh's trans community and allies.
Chant
Dance
Share home-made snacks.
Commit to taking care of one another, building our community's resilience, and keeping up the fight.
A demonstration has been scheduled to coincide with & counteract a protest from Women Won’t Wheesht over the Supreme Court’s ruling for single-sex spaces. They demand that this be implemented across all government departments, a policy that we believe is demeaning & dehumanising for trans people.

“The Cass Review's contradictions are striking. It acknowledged some trans young people benefit from [blockers], but its recommendations have made this currently inaccessible to all. It found no evidence psychological treatments improve gender dysphoria, yet recommended expanding their provision.”
