I keep seeing people defend the game while explicitly not playing to the end. If only they knew.
When the game is Metroid Prime it is very good. When the game is Yooka-Laylee it is very much not good.
The game has weird padding
I've let the game cook in my mind some more. It is pretty enjoyable but has some weirdly not great parts. Not as good as prime 1 or 2, which is a shame, but it was still a pretty fun game (I have some more to clean up)
Hot take: there should be half as many missile expansions and double shot expansions. The elemental shots are so much cooler than missiles
