Had a wonderful evening at Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Dallas. Owners Beau Bedford and Jeff Saenz were great hosts for the @recording academy - Texas Chapter P&E mixer. Thanks to Avi Minkoff and his team for putting it together. This was my Grammy U mentees’ first studio party — a treat!

There are probably a zillion variables. How many could you master if your assistants receive, review, analyze, and prepare every session? After you do the analog passes and some tweaking, the assistants take over, doing tops, tails, QA, final assembly, metadata, rendering, delivery, and invoicing.
$300/hr for some A-List MEs.

It is becoming commonplace to release hardware and software ‘clones’ of products without obtaining licensing or permission from the original manufacturers and developers. Nowhere does it say ‘Lavry’ or ‘Licensed by Lavry’ on this plugin, yet it clearly resembles the Lavry Gold unit.
Sad to see SO many hard working, innovative, and risk-taking companies, that are *still in business*, have their IP and branding blatantly stolen by knock-off hardware and software companies. Piracy is *not* a legitimate form of R&D.

Servicing an old Soundcraft 1600 mixing console for a local studio owner. Replaced the VERY tired filter caps and tested good under load. The previous owners cut power to the VU lamps, so will track that down this evening.
