It has always been true that only a fraction of the readership reads long pieces. Or reads past the jump, as they used to say in the newspaper biz.
The ones who read it all are called "readers." And they are more likely to subscribe to the publication and/or become lifelong fans of the writer.

The video of a United States Senator joining the violent removal of U.S. marine from a hearing and hideously breaking his arm in a door is an example of what has been unleashed in this country. Theyβre tapping in to get in on the violence.
And then he bragged about it on X later.

Thereβs a Bandai store nearby and I was shocked how much theyβre still leaning into TAMAGOTCHI. My wife got one for the kids and after the thing hatched it kept beeping. We just left it in the car to die.

SIGNED A Masterpiece in Disarray: David Lynchβs Dune. A
Following his underground hit Eraserhead and critically acclaimed The Elephant Man , visionary filmmaker David Lynch set his sights on bringing Frank Herbertβs beloved sci-fi novel Dune to the screen.
We still have a few signed copies left of the first printing of @maxevry.bsky.social's staggeringly thorough history of the 1984 David Lynch version of Dune. It has a black satin ribbon marker and red foil gilded edges and is so big you could do arm curls with it. mzs.press/SIGNED-A-Mas...

Youβre gonna hate me, but I saw both versions and do not know for sure which one Kino is using. I do know I discovered a song that was written for the movie but never used, and I discuss that in the commentary. Hope you like the disc when it comes out!

Watched The Mist on MeTV. Earns a spot in the Stephen King adaptation pantheon. Slow build, but when the creatures appear, YIKES! Pure nightmare fuel. But the true horror is seeing a functioning society fall apart instantly. And realizing how close to the edge it was even before the mist rolled in.

I was on the set when they were making it, looking around at all the massive production value and resources wondering, βWhy is Tarzan? Why are any of us here?β It felt like an existential crisis even during filming.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itβs always a matter of will not resources.
