It has always been true that only a fraction of the readership reads long pieces. Or reads past the jump, as they used to say in the newspaper biz.
The ones who read it all are called "readers." And they are more likely to subscribe to the publication and/or become lifelong fans of the writer.
The video of a United States Senator joining the violent removal of U.S. marine from a hearing and hideously breaking his arm in a door is an example of what has been unleashed in this country. They’re tapping in to get in on the violence.
And then he bragged about it on X later.
There’s a Bandai store nearby and I was shocked how much they’re still leaning into TAMAGOTCHI. My wife got one for the kids and after the thing hatched it kept beeping. We just left it in the car to die.

woke up to the email no one ever wants to receive....
Watched The Mist on MeTV. Earns a spot in the Stephen King adaptation pantheon. Slow build, but when the creatures appear, YIKES! Pure nightmare fuel. But the true horror is seeing a functioning society fall apart instantly. And realizing how close to the edge it was even before the mist rolled in.
Another strange strange film… almost “Altman the cocaine years” shambolic, but at least it’s interesting.
Jenni, if you don’t write a book called “Dommed Into Traveling” I will never forgive you.
I was on the set when they were making it, looking around at all the massive production value and resources wondering, “Why is Tarzan? Why are any of us here?” It felt like an existential crisis even during filming.
I look forward to the day my children ask me, “Daddy, why is Chan Chan a dog man in the bee lady movie?”
