You could ask the same thing about Guy Gardner. They probably don't need the glowing shield in Earth's atmosphere. Now if he doesn't glow in space, that's a whole other story. My question is why is Hal's ring on the wrong finger when he flies? Probably just flipped footage for the teaser trailer

I think the theory that it’s Alan Scott’s death the GLs are investigating is right. I think this is his uniform and that is his cape. I think John breaks into that building and uses Alan’s power battery (yes I know about the star heart) to charge a dead ring.
