(Beartato and Reginald, in a museum, gaze upon the Mona Lisa)

BEARTATO: There it is. The Mona Lisa. The most famous painting in history.
REGINALD: Wow! What's it do?

BEARTATO: It... what?
REGINALD: Why's it famous? What's it do?

(Beartato thinks.)

BEARTATO: I don't know.

REGINALD (to nearly museum employee): Excuse me! Sir? What's it do?

EMPLOYEE: You're the first person to ask! Watch this!

(The employee yanks a pull-string. Mona Lisa's eyes spin around and her mouth opens like a puppet)
MONA LISA: Honk honk! Honk honk!

(Everyone is delighted. This is true art.)

I love that someone from a less popular online shooter showed up on the Marathon subreddit and was like "Guys, chill. Stop watching the numbers. Enjoy the game. Be free."

There are some counters, for sure, but just feels like 90% of solo runs are me dealing with assassins hiding near exfil or camping early quest locations.

Trust me. This will help. I promise.

Oh yeah, I'm not on that side of things at all. i think remakes can be awesome and recontextualize a story/work in an interesting way.

So many great pieces of media are remakes or adaptations of something that came before.

I'd be more down with remakes if, like movies and books, old games were easily accessible on modern platforms and brought forward with new tech instead of being left behind.

Instead, old games are mostly left behind and remakes are instead offered up.

Agreed. Just posting a number isn't enough. When I've used SteamDB I try to include context like comparisons to other games, how the devs have talked about player count, pinged for comment, added posts from Reddit/Steam about queue times etc. etc. You can do it in a way that is useful, I think

Oh for sure. There are way too many posts that go "Game lost 80% of playerbase" but it still has like 20k or whatever playing on a Tueasday afternoon.

I think SteamDB player data can and has been used to write up dumb stuff.

But I do think there are times where it can be useful even if you don't have the full context. It can also be helpful to find new Steam games that are catching on and dig in/report on a positive trend, too.

Excuse me.

Oh, God. Oh, no. Holy shit. Get away from me.

I was wondering if you knew where the bathrooms are.

Look, I'm ... it's not a crime to scroll through your high school girlfriend's Instagram account. We remained friends after high school! I was at her wedding! It's only natural to see how she's doing.

I'm in a bit of a hurry, and I'm afraid that if I choose the wrong corridor, I'll be late for my train.

I think they're down that way, but I'm actually from out of town. Please stop talking to me.

Real quick, though. I agree that it's natural to be interested in an old friend, but aren't you afraid about the message you might be sending by liking a picture of her at the beach from 2015?

If that did happen, and I'm only going off your word, it was probably an accident. They put the ... scroll bars or whatever ... close to the thumbs up button. People have been complaining about that for years. I've been complaining about that for years.
