I think part of the problem is that if you want to make a gun for people who don't really like guns you wind up with a pink LCP or you wind up with one of these goofus guns. And if you want to tell those people they can practice and get comfortable with a normal gun, you can't sell them a weird one.
Some of them seem pitched to the type of guy that wants Deep Concealment Gray Man Capability but doesn't want something like a derringer or mini revolver. The Ideal Conceal is the least silly one of those I can think of off the top of my head.
With the Ounce, I at least understand the "I'm not really super comfortable with guns so if it looks less like a gun I might not be as hesitant about it" guy but I don't know if that guy is going to be into the THUNDERSTRUCK or the SWITCHGUN; those seem like a slightly different gimmick to me
