What can I do to help the older people in my life prepare for this eventuality?
That's why I'm hesitant to go all-in on using AI in my process...but at the same time, I worry about my career prospects. I don't think AI-assisted dev will go away, but I have no idea what it'll look like (and how much that'll matter) once Wall Street loses its patience.
I don't get the people who say that coding agents make them more productive. Even if that's the case...what's gonna happen when the bill comes due and hyperscalers have to make LLMs profitable? Will they eat the costs when they inevitably rise? Will they be fine with worse models or stricter limits?
@chocolatey.org Chocolatey repo's down despite the status page saying otherwise. status.chocolatey.org I can't update my packages!
I was telling my mother about what I'm doing today, and I mentioned that I'm working on getting #webrtc nodes to talk to each other. She described it as like marriage counseling for computers...is she wrong? π€ͺ #webdev #networks
Amazing new age verification procedure requires no government ID, no credit card numbers, no photography
import { setTimeout } from 'node:timers/promises'
const verifyAge = async () => {
await setTimeout(568_036_800_000)
return true
}
I haven't, but plenty of others have. What kind of reasons should I be on the lookout for? What info can I provide that others haven't already?
#pycharm is even worse, I just had to kill it because it froze after chewing up a fifth of my CPU...even though I had it idle in another window and wasn't even using it!
Any other #jetbrains #webstorm users having performance issues lately? It just stalled for me for like a minute, and all I did was type a few characters. Too much time spent on #ai features that I don't use, not enough on basic profiling? If this keeps up I might have to switch back to VS Code
Any #webdev peeps who use #nodejs #vitest or #fastify? I'm blocked on a weird issue with testing an `async` function, and it's driving me nuts. Details at the link. stackoverflow.com/questions/79...
The author visualizes his Obsidian vault in a graph view. Each dot represents a note file, and each line represents one file linking to another. There are a handful of denser note clusters; these notes describe related topics.
I am #zettelkasten -ing the *shit* out of my notes. Think lots of little notes that link to each other, rather than big flat files with walls of text. Man, if I'd only known about this in college... #productivity #adhd #obsidian

I just implemented direct boot support for DSiWare games in melonDS DS! Works like a charm. It'll be in the next release. #retrogaming #nintendo #nds #retroarch #libretro

Feels good to be back in my element. #emudev #opensource #buildinpublic
Now that this LAN netplay PR for melonDS DS is finally merged github.com/JesseTG/melo... (thanks, Bernardo!), we're getting close to a 1.2.0 release! Just wanna fix some bugs first. #retrogaming #emudev #gamedev #buildinpublic #opensource #nintendods #libretro #retroarch
Virtuaaaa RACING!
If you listen to it and end up wanting more, spread my heroic deeds far and wide so more people will invite me onto their podcasts!
At about that time, I was also on the RetroAchievements podcast talking about gaming, my work on melonDS DS, and life lessons for a certain type of person (including me) that tends to gravitate to #retrogaming. www.youtube.com/watch?v=al41... Recorded just before 1.0.0, released just after.
One year ago today, I cut the first release of a melonDS DS, a new #nintendods core for #libretro #retroarch! github.com/JesseTG/melo... I don't have anything special for today, but exciting things are in the works! Just gotta finish some boring things first. #buildinpublic #retrogaming

I've lived on an island in or near #NYC my entire life. I've never known anything other than wet summers, increasingly warm winters, and the occasional scraps when someone else gets hit by a hurricane or cold snap. At least the wildlife isn't terrifying. (Maybe excluding rats in New York.)
...good God, I was playing these games since before they were retro. They were "upcoming" and "recent". π¬
Finally wrote some docs for melonDS DS! docs.libretro.com/library/melo... Been putting it off for a while, but since the one-year anniversary of 1.0 is Sunday now's a good time! Let's see if I can't get 1.2.0 out by then... #libretro #retrogaming #nintendo #nds #retroarch
Does anyone else feel like they're spending so much time writing about how great they are that they're neglecting what actually make them great? Or is it just me? #layoffs #unemployed
Finally getting around to writing a doc page for melonDS DS. Important because the author of this melonDS DS PR github.com/JesseTG/melo... provided a great writeup on LAN netplay...but the #libretro docsite is a better home for it. #retrogaming #opensource #buildinpublic

Peanut hanging out with her big brother/grandpa/senpai/cool uncle Pepe as he reluctantly goes along with it. She's obsessed with him but I have no idea why. #cats #pets
