Making our way through the Solar System and this stop is almost halfway (but not by distance). Mars is a favorite planet for astronomers and sci fiction fans. The red planet certainly holds us with fascination, doesn't it?I ove being able to spot it in the night sky because of that reddish cast.

All good things come to an end. And the 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 ™ has been a good thing. This small painting was in my stocking and was created by my niece. She painted us small versions of fruit trees that start with our first initial so I got an 🥑 tree which is perfect, because I LOVE avocado!

I've been fortunate to see double rainbows, full arc rainbows and a sun dog or two but, I've never seen a "fogbow" but boy do I want to see one!!

Ok - who has seen one? Where were you? I will want to go to there. 🌈

I've been bowling since jr high school and my dad and I competed in the Sr Olympics for a long time. When I was a kid, they gave us wooden pins with our high game for the season. I've surpassed that score but I didn't get a pin 😞 My dad is a wood turner so he made me a pin to add to the collection.

Time for a little visit to the third rock from the Sun! Yep - let's talk about our home planet a little bit. Earth lives in the sweet spot - not too close to the Sun and not too far away. It's pretty remarkable, really, how our planet makes things work for us to live and thrive here.

Form vs Function? 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩! I've shared a couple functional pottery pieces on our 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗠 so today, we will move into a different media - glass. This fused glass piece is a bottle stopper and I just adore its scale (maybe pun intended?) #tinyarttour #techy-feely

It's not WHAT you say...It's HOW you say it. How many times have we heard that? "I didn't like your tone." could be something you might hear from a parent. 😌 It's fascinating how elements like tone, pace, intention, emphasis really change meaning.

Happy Groundhog's Day! On today's 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 ™, I wish I had a groundhog artwork but I don't. This little squirrel will have to stand in. I'm sure you can tell that this a piece from childhood. Well loved and a little worse for the wear. Are you wishing for more winter or ready for spring today?

Well, well, well, it has been a year of the Sky is NOT The Limit! My goal was to at least make it six months and then decide what to do from there...and, I totally forgot that was my goal until I saw it jotted down in my notes. I appreciate anyone who has taken a moment to watch!

It's our second stop on our Solar System Tour 2026! Often called "Earth's Twin", Venus really is nothing like our home planet.

A 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗠 stop at my desk. This Yoda was crocheted for me by a friend at the college where I worked. I always admired her skill with fabric arts and was delighted when this appeared on my desk one day! Now, Yoda helps me work at my home desk. I'm pretty sure the Force is with both of us.

I was a science museum educator and I loved it! I loved finding unique ways to share science concepts with the public. Named German physicist Ernst Chladni, these plates are a wonderful device to visualize sound.

I thought we would start of this year with a tour of our solar system so the next episodes will stop by a planet or other feature in our "neighborhood" in outer space. Seems most fitting to start with the planet closest to the sun: Mercury.

Let's find out about this hot, speedy planet, shall we?

Who's on this stop on our 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 ™? Fitting "tiny" very well is a china piece from Japan that just makes me happy. The size, the color blue, the owl's expression. All of it just make a great combination that brings a smile every time I notice it.

What art to you have that makes you happy?

Who doesn't love a good laugh? I'm an easy audience for comedy as a fan of the easy laugh - puns, physical comedy, sight gags as well as more sophisticated setup in sketch comedy and good standup with callbacks to the first part of the show (Suzy Eddie Izzard is genius at that!)

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, a number of Landsat 7 images were selected to create "Earth as Art". Now, the USGS has a number of Earth as Art galleries using visible and invisible light across the electromagnetic spectrum as seen by satellite sensors.

As we wind down the year 2025, I thought it was appropriate to celebrate Landsat 7, a Earth orbiting satellite that has been in operation since 1999 and was decommissioned earlier this year. A remarkable work of precision and engineering that provided so much data (like over 3 petabytes.

Ending 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 ™ 2025 with work by my dad. I call myself a "techy-feely" person because I got the best of both worlds w/ an engineer father & a therapist mom. Dad is more than the stereotypical engineer. He has been into wood turning for a while and over time his work has grown so much!

If you are gathering with family and/or friends at this time of year, I hope hearing the sounds of those you love bring you the reward of love and safety.

Today's 𝙏𝙞𝙣𝙮 𝘼𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧 ™ entry is above the door to the screened porch and has been in my house for over 20 years. The artist is Deb Shmerler and the piece is titled "Hatreds Only Cease By Love". I thought it was a very creative wreath with science vibes so I just leave it up year round to enjoy.

It is almost the Winter Solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere. The nights are much longer than the days and the Yule log is burnt to help usher in the light again. Soltices are important markers of the path of the sun through each year. Let's learn more about them!

With my love of functional pottery, it's no surprise, I find some art in my fridge with this awesome Prince themed butter dish today on our 𝙏𝙞𝙣𝙮 𝘼𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧 ™I love the use of the Prince symbol as part of the rooster along with other symbology & colors. It’s a favorite thing in my fridge.

Do you find the voice of a loved one comforting? I do find it interesting how different tones of voice bring up varying emotions. We all remember the reaction when your mom used ALL of your names 🫣 . Voice actors provide - the right tone of voice needed for the script. That is why it is acting. 🎭
