With a hint of spring in the air we very warmly invite you to our next POLEMO seminar, where we will be welcoming Georgetown's Christian Golden.
Please include your name, institutional affiliation, and contact information in the body of your email. Papers should be suitable for a 20-minute presentation.
We welcome early-career researchers in political theory and political philosophy to submit abstracts of 700 words or less by email to polemo@ceu.edu by the deadline of 1st March 2026. Abstracts should be in PDF format and fully prepared for blind review.
Papers dealing with such topics, or responding to the overarching theme from another angle, are especially welcome. Papers concerning alternative topics in political philosophy more broadly will however still be considered for acceptance.
In particular conceptualizations and reflections on, the nature of integration, equality of opportunity and social cohesion; Explorations of relations between justice, democracy and the goals of social, cultural, and/or political integration; Normative analyses of social cohesion and integration.
As part of our collaboration, we specifically invite papers dealing with our overarching theme: the relation between the ideal of integration (however conceived) and the functioning of political systems, particularly as regards the ideals of justice and democracy.
GOODINT specifically aims to go beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries and seeks to develop empirically informed theoretical knowledge on good integration: its meaning, its value, and the means of achieving it. This invites reflections on these ideas and how they can best be achieved.
For this edition we will be collaborating with the Good Integration (GOODINT) project, funded by the Norwegian Research Council, concerning the notions of equality of opportunity and cultural integration, and their contributions to wider goals of successful integration and social cohesion.
We are delighted to announce that our keynote speakers for the 2026 Symposium will be Antoinette Scherz (The University of Stockholm) and Sarah Fine (The University of Cambridge).
Our yearly symposium provides a professional, stimulating, and international environment for PhD students and early career researchers in political, legal, and moral philosophy to discuss their works in progress, establish informal networks, and initiate future collaborative research.

On wednesday the 7th, we are hosting Dimitry Kochenov for our opening seminar of the Rule of Law in crisis - series for the winter term. Dimitry will focus in his talk on 'EU Lawlessness Law'. We are greatly looking forward to that and to seeing you all!
