I tried to explain why I don't believe the recent accusations toward my former teammates, as well as how the Ruby and Rails Infra team at Shopify operates and why it can be trusted.

Hey, Simon! Thank you!
1. What features are you thinking are missing?
2. Can you give me an example of "adding hash keys to types" in traditional Sorbet sigs?
π
@booker.senate.gov well done, good and faithful public servant, well done.
Look at this fantastic speaker lineup for @brightonruby.com in June. I am such a fan of @andycroll.bsky.social!

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.
I wrote a blog post with some thoughts about code review!
I donβt remember any non-obvious tips, but I do remember it hurting a lot π (sorry to say)
The image features a promotional graphic for StoryGraph titled "New Year, New Reading Journey." It displays a hand-drawn illustration of a small character circling the Story Graph logo on a calendar page, with "2025" written in the top right corner. The character stands on a pushpin platform, using a red marker for circling. The style is playful and sketch-like. The background is simple, adorned with scattered stars and paper airplane drawings, adding to the whimsical atmosphere. The text on the image states, "We've got fun updates coming all January! Give us the month to keep you around. Don't love us by Jan 31st? Delete your data in just 3 clicks."

Tried StoryGraph before and didn't like it? Give us another chance this January! There'll be fun updates and massive improvements coming all month. β¨

Anyone who knows Naijeria knows that she is a force of nature. The Ruby community is so lucky to have her!
You're telling me a duck typed this code?
Wow same! LFGGGG
The OTSUO massage ball, a blue ball that is round on the bottom with a pointy end on the top.
It's ball-shaped on one side and pointy on the other to help release tight muscles. I don't think it technically counts as a "ball" but the marketing says "massage ball" so π€·ββοΈ

More new logo goodness β¨ Say hello to our single color logos and reverse logo, because flexibility with logo contrast and legibility is awesome π

But if you just mean "maintain long term fitness" then yeah, absolutely. Your body remembers the training you've done, and even if you deprioritize running for a bit, getting started again will be easier than it's ever been.
I think it depends what you mean by "maintain." If you mean "maintain the ability to run 6 miles at any speed," then yeah probably! Or "maintain the ability to run a 5k as fast as I possibly can" then probably not.
If it ain't me π
Had a great chat about my recent work around Sorbet and Ruby documentation π
For the Rubyists doing #AdventOfCode this month, I have a little CLI tool that helps you bootstrap and run your code for each day: github.com/egiurleo/adv...

I try to keep him on his toes
Workflows are like a specialized tool for developers building Expo apps. They add the glue between all the steps you need to deliver your code to your users.
RubyCentral will stop organizing RailsConf to focus on RubyConf. Next yearβs RailsConf in Philly will be the last one.
Iβm back home and already missing all my #RubyFriends. Honestly, going to RubyConf every year is what keeps me in tech β you are all such lovely, intelligent people, and I feel so lucky that I get to work alongside every one of you. Thank you for an amazing time π

So, I did a talk at #RubyConf. A keynote, an incredible honor. But before I did it, I updated my slides with my BlueSky (and Mastodon) handles. When I came off stage, I saw this, and itβs been literal years since Iβve seen this on socials after a talk. Iβm so glad we all picked a place finally.
