I would say that most people on HN use open source projects for their works, a few contribute to them, a small number maintains, but the upvoting system makes it so the voices of the first group are the only ones that are heard (and are usually the most oblivious).

In general the HN crowd is pretty oblivious to the struggles of open source sustainability.
