Two frames. 1. Lib Party Room, members huddled around table, one says “We have no policies, no principles, no vision, no credibility, no gravitas, no consistency, no popular appeal…” 2. Same scene, another says, “You’re right - Angus Taylor is the leader who best represents us.”

Climate change threatens the Winter Olympics’ future – and even snowmaking has limits for saving the Games Innovations have made recent Winter Games possible, but the future climate will have a big impact on where the Olympics can be held and winter sports themselves.

The Winter Olympics start this Friday, and warming winters are making the Games harder to hold.

Less natural snow means heavier reliance on snowmaking, and ultimately it all means limits to how long the Winter Olympics can keep going as we know them.

Retiring Walmart CEO Doug McMillon made $27.5M last year, over 930 times the median Walmart worker's salary of just $29,469.

Walmart's wages are so low that its workers are among the most likely to rely on SNAP and Medicaid to get by.

It's past time Walmart paid them a living wage.

I can’t speak for the entire Jewish community, but personally I have been watching many of y’all under-react to ICE actions for the last year and suddenly understanding in a whole new way how my family ended up being rounded up and massacred in camps and y’all should think on that.

People who paid pure lip-service to a Royal Commission's findings suggesting we need a Royal Commission.

Glorious. Stick it on the front page.

We're the baddies now. Our new Security Strategy shows it. It's a gift to the Kremlin and a middle finger to our erstwhile allies.

Just a reminder the media org that has been trumpeting that it cares about kids and their futures and wants social media banned is the same that worldwide has been running climate change disinformation and lies, ensuring the kids will live in a worse world

Were I in a govt that really cared about kids, I’d be banning new coal and gas mines with rather more fervour than the current ban on social media.

Probably wouldn’t get the same boasting front pages in the Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph though…

Here’s what he’s missing:

We have a president calling immigrants “garbage” and affordability a hoax, a DOD secretary cosplaying war games with no accountability, a VP saying it’s “reasonable” to not want neighbors who speak another language, and a Speaker who believes women are inferior.

The GOP.

Ever grateful to those that speak up & out, & for their solidarity.

Science suppression & self-censorship is rife. I understand why many are reluctant to speak truth to power, it can come with great costs, seen & unseen, with the latter often being the most insidious, upsetting & damaging. #ESA2025

The CSIRO cuts are just the tip of the iceberg for Australia's science funding Australia is known as a country of innovators, but with a combination of brain drain, continuous cuts, and a loss of critical science projects, is Australia losing its edge?

This is why for a long time I've found the Prime Minister's Prizes for Science a rather insulting propaganda exercise

www.abc.net.au/news/science...

CSIRO funding as a percentage of GDP:

1982-83 = 0.17

2024-25 = 0.03

...

Scientific extinction event imminent?

Thank you for writing this, @timhollo.bsky.social. I've been very critical of COPs for a long time, and you've articulated the fundamental issues with precision.

"A globe of sovereign states is no true globe...a globe of communities acting in concert for the climate can make the COPs obsolete."
