I "created"(vibecoded) an immersion tracking tool inspired by lingotrack, with the specific purpose of being open and transparent and completely offline. This way you can import and export your logs whenever you want.
It's still not fully ready yet, but I'm actually very pleased of how it turned out

Just went to check my software scaling implementation against an emulator and it looks like the resolution matches. Yay
I'm not sure if this stretched/compressed 5:4 feed is supposed to look like this on an actual CRT but I ended up writing some code in my capture software to "stretch" the video so the result ends up being actually 4:3 in ratio.

I accidentally went down the rabbit hole of Dreamcast rendering resolutions. Looks like some games actually output at 3:2 or 5:4 inside a 4:3 video feed so the resulting output ends up being all stretched and weird.
Currently having the dangerous thought of maybe acquiring a Sega Saturn...

And of course this is a totally obvious thing it's not like I made a new discovery or anything. But seeing it side by side really gave me some new appreciation to the art of the analog.
Now, if I could get rid of capture cards and CRT filters and get a real ブラウン管...
You know I was playing with an emulator and a real console + capture card side by side comparison and one thing I noticed, even if both are using the same CRT filter, the console looks different due to how the composite cable adds some flickering and interference to the signal.
Ended up reading a different VN from what I had originally planned. Revive〜蘇生〜 is nice but I'm not in the mood for another point-and-click murder game yet.
Decided to go with 夢のつばさ instead. The vibes are in the right place so far.

I got a new pack of blank CDs today. I haven't bought blank CDs in almost two decades probably. I'm going to try and back up some of these Dreamcast games in case they get scratched. Disc 1 of Skies of Arcadia already has stopped booting... hopefully I can use a backup.
Also I got Grandia 1 and 2 for Saturn and Dreamcast from book-off. Unfortunately I don't own a Sega Saturn but the emulator with a good CRT filter seems to work well enough. I'm looking forward to playing these.
The Dreamcast is real at least.
Thought about buying a real PS1 to reminisce on my childhood, but instead for now I just bought some games and an external CD drive and I am playing them on emulator.
I tried some of the FF remaster editions on switch and the font in the originals is so much better! Look at that balance of pixels!
The game disc itself is still wrapped in the original wrapping too! I kinda feel bad opening this 😭
