Time to watch “God of Carnage”!
Those are neat!
It’s getting to the point where the majority of RPG art is actively turning me off games.
One week…
This was a great production!
About to see the great romantic comedy, “Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf”.
Pencil sketch of a robust warrior woman with big hair and horns. Axe and sword.
Old sketch for a Trollbabe illustration for Adept Press way back in early 2000s. I love trollbabes!
Today I learned the gum wall exists.
Honeydew Melon.
Requiem For A Dream (although I did end up seeing it again)
Black Death
I irresponsibly ordered a bunch of Philip K. Dick and Kurt Vonnegut novels.
Herman Melville wept.
The problem with having a blog where I complain about things it can be hard to remember if I've complained about something before.
"...an artificial inhuman terrarium of fear and alienation." is also a phrase I just wrote.
"You can’t hurt the feelings of an exquisite corpse." - sentence I just wrote.
Sure?
Bluebeard's Bride's Bestie.
Are we talking about the same Conan who kidnaps a princess to ransom for prisoners of war? And the same Conan, who, when put in charge of army and is asked why he isn't charging in boldly replies that while he is reckless he's not going to gamble with the lives of 10,000 men? That Conan?
"Conan doesn't have motivations" is right down there with "the Cthulhu Mythos beings are unknowable" as far as shit nerds repeat that doesn't hold water upon reading primary texts.
A lot of two player games ("The Hour Between Dog and Wolf", "One More Thing") A lot of OSR-adjacent games ("Mothership", "Mork Borg", "Liminal Horror")
Games played at Strategicon (OrcCon):
Moonlight on Roseville Beach
Fedora Noir
One More Thing
Tacklebox
Eat The Reich
Estimated Prophet
In Dreaming Avalon
The French only makes it better.
There is more than one negative review of a couple of my scenarios that boil down to "This doesn't pre-play the game for me." No, I'm not going to pre-write the plot and "cool scenes" for you. That's called playing.
I don't know why every theater has the cool plays in Feb/Mar. Spread the awesome out!
I’ve been working with an artist for almost a year where I send them a spec, they send me an invoice, I send them money, they send me art. Weird how that works.
Some creators intentionally make their work difficult and inscrutable and strange, because they know great art (Shakespeare, Sylvia Plath, Dalí, Hilma af Klint, Basquiat, etc) feels like those things when you don't understand it, and they want to be perceived as great artists. But they...
