That's so cool!!! I also love collared doves, they only narrowly lose out to stock doves... I love bird cooperation, I once saw a carrion crow eating seeds while another crow was picking fights with gulls hovering above, and I choose to believe those two things were connected πŸ˜„

Sounds like it might be feral pigeon behaviour - stock doves are very shy and I've never seen more than one at a time - another reason why they are the best pigeon/dove 😌

(my favourite bird is another question entirely - and that goes, narrowly, to the beloved long tailed tit)

But yes I can totally believe that of woodpigeons (photo below); I have photos somewhere of two magpies, a crow, and two rock pigeons all looking on at a safe distance as a bulky woodpigeon calmly consumed a crust macaulaylibrary.org/asset/165123...

Just look at it. Petite. Woodpigeon proportions. Feral pigeon iridescence. Pretty black eyes. It truly has it all macaulaylibrary.org/asset/103889...

Surely this is universal basic income's moment! Surely now is the time to hold up the realities of automation in front of everyone and present a vision for how we can live beyond it? Why am I only hearing UBI discussed by leftists who are frustrated by the "AI is the devil" discourse

Read that transformerai blog going around. I'm still searching for the explanation of what genAI can do that humans can't, but - controversial take - I do actually agree that a lot of lefties are completely wasting an opportunity with AI, hoping that the bubble will explode and take the tech with it

Despite wider declining trends, comics and graphic novels have remained unusually buoyant in popularity with print reading of comics dipping only slightly since 2017 (32.2% vs 29.2% in 2025); the shallowest decline of any reading material monitored. Their translation to digital form has proven successful with readers too; while most other forms of reading on screen have stagnated or fallen, comics have bucked the trend with digital reading rates increasing over the last seven years (13.8% in 2017/18 to 14.3% in 2025).

I *need* to start putting it in my diary to check in on the National Literacy Trust’s Annual Literacy
Survey. Just catching up on the Future of Literacy project, the first paper of which includes a section dedicated to comics, with some encouraging takeaways: literacytrust.org.uk/information/...

Labour’s Section 28 is here – act now In May 1988, the Conservative government introduced Section 28. This legal measure outlawed support for β€œhomosexuality as a pretended family relationship” across Britain, especially in …

New post: LABOUR'S SECTION 28 IS HERE - ACT NOW.

I explain how the Labour government's proposed revisions to the guidance on "keeping children in education" are designed to erase trans children in England. But it's not a done deal - there is plenty we can do to oppose this.

Pivot Table Excel | Step-by-Step Tutorial
Pivot Table Excel | Step-by-Step Tutorial YouTube video by Kevin Stratvert

the worst part is it takes like TEN MINUTES to learn. I got taught through a work thing that dove into a lot of extra detail/interesting niche uses but there's a tutorial here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvbL...

13.02.2026 10:15 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

basically super quick way to reformat data & do calculations. 15 minutes of reminding myself of the formula to see (e.g.) how many pages I'd assigned to each shortlisting judge to read and then setting up that formula is now reduced to three clicks, and one of those clicks is "generate pivot table"

every excel discussion since forever: well if you need to learn one thing in excel, learn pivot tables--
me: yeah sure I'll get around to it
me after literally 10 minutes of tutorial yesterday: SO ALL THOSE FORMULAS I TAUGHT MYSELF TO DO??? AND I COULD HAVE JUST???????

It costs Β£5.60 total to buy two sets of tickets for an 8min journey across different days, and Β£11.70 to add that journey on to one "anytime return" month-long ticket. AND THAT'S JUST THE SAVING THAT I KNOW ABOUT

07.02.2026 12:32 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I ended up still paying like Β£50 because I didn't go FULL on with the split ticketing (I wanted some extra flexibility over the weekend), could have def got it cheaper if I'd tried though
