In the realm of #comics, time and space are...flexible.
"I'm in the goddamn club, aren't I?"
With both today's tech & aesthetics, well-told #fotocomics (my adopted term) is possible. Not only as a nostalgic curiosity but a push toward a new form of storytelling built on different media - graphic design & cinematography. Imagine a color fotocomic enhanced in Photoshop!
Here's some more interior pages from the "inspired by" fumetti... Given the general restrictions of time and format, these aren't too bad. The cover artists however were "inspired" by everything Scifi... and I mean everything.
In addition there was a photo-fumetti series that naturally adhered to the episodes they were taken from...

Coming up in MAQ 14. "The Bigfoot Issue."
Coming to you live from Pulp Headquarters, this is 63.
@88films.bsky.social is coming out with a new release of FORBIDDEN WORLD. Nice timing, as we will be releasing the 2nd volume of CELLULOID WARS soon!
Working on designing a layout worthy of the #cryptid #culture narrative on #Bigfoot that @stephenrbissette.bsky.social lays down for MAQ 14. This is a deep dive into Sasquatch's appearances in movies & comics.
The Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko line was established in 1988 aimed at a male audience. Some of the novels in the imprint line were serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's light novel magazine THE SNEAKER, which was published between 1993 and 2011.
I was immediately drawn to the cover art and the idea these were a series of novels by the same author though not all featuring the same main characters. There's a striking consistency in the look and the energy of the covers.
From the "Pulp By Any Other Name" Dept:
A series of novels by Akimitsu Takagi (real name: Seiichi Takagi) published for the "Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko" line.
The line was established in 1988 aimed at a male audience.

The director, Edgar Ulmer, also made the film noir classic DETOUR. He was used to having no money and needing to inject a ton of style into his pictures.
Great movie that defies its ultra low budget of $60K.
I now expect all you #indiefilm gang to go out and start making #BMovies for #Youtube. Hourlong movies that have momentum and verve - not an ounce of fat to be seen.
Make 'em fast, make 'em cheap, but most of all make them entertaining!
@eshap.bsky.social has a substack post up today about the intersection of YouTube and TV. It seems the perfect format for YT in terms of engagement and revenue is TV length media!

Not only that but from the production side, they now have an Extra layer to utilize asa a marketing tool. Develop the audience via Verticals then really sell the feature version with bonus scenes. 2 for 1.
I look at it as the 1st domino has fallen.
This agreement positions Verticals as a legit part of the industry, as work qualifies toward actors' SAG eligibility, and allows producers to factor Vertical platforms into their marketing & distribution strategy.
In other words, welcome back movie serials!
Because everyone thinks you have to make a movie the way Hollywood does by spending money.
On Tubi.tv right now. Vintage TV SciFi from the creator of STAR TREK. Now if they'd only put up SPECTRE, QUESTOR, and the underrated series SEARCH.
