Once again, I'd like to remind people that this is what Josh Barro is raging about: 14-year-old kids playing sports with their friends. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf9M...
Austin ISD has a mix of different parent communication systems, which means I get a text asking me to check my email which then links to a Google Doc. Can't we just provide the important information in the email or text?
If you live in any state controlled by the GOP, be sure to check the status of your voter registration. This is particularly important in Georgia.
This is happening March 7th (this Saturday) from 9am to 1pm at Austin City Hall. Come down to hear from city leaders and staff about how we're working to address historic issues around access to technology focusing on east #Austin.
The morally bankrupt Trump administration has partnered with another morally bankrupt authoritarian to declare an unprovoked war on Iran, already killing scores of civilians.
We need an immediate vote from Congress on a War Powers Resolution. Then articles of impeachment.

We're up over 3,000 letters sent.
Can we get more than 5,000 letters sent to Senators opposing Casey Means' nomination for Surgeon General?

Are you learning @kicad.org and want some tips to make a successful PCB? My notes for what to do/check/think about are here: github.com/Blenster/PCB...

Arduboy FX-C sitting on its box where it's perfectly matched with the picture below it. The handheld is gray with purple A/B buttons and a black D-pad button arrangement.
Handheld shot showing off the USB-C connector on its bottom, a nice upgrade over the micro-B connectors of previous units.
My Arduboy FX-C arrived today, and I'm very happy with the build quality, and it's got my two released games right at the top of the Arcade category. You can still order this edition from arduboy.com, but it's close to selling out.
If you want help deciding, @bluevoterguide.bsky.social provides a great resource, showing candidates along with their endorsements from various Democratic and progressive groups, and letting you build up your own guide to print out to help navigate the VERY LONG ballot.
Always fun to get the bilingual "I Voted / Yo VotΓ©" stickers. Early voting is the best, and for this year's Democratic primary in #Texas, its important to get participation from as many people as possible to build support for strong candidates in the general election.
Just finished reading @pluralistic.net.web.brid.gy's 2008 novel "Little Brother", and it hit quite hard, given our current situation here in the US. Let's be ready for our own resistance. craphound.com/littlebrothe...
This is where I grew up. My first internship was in the IT department at Shaw Industries. This kind of contamination may have contributed to some of my health issues. It's harrowing.
www.texastribune.org/2026/02/04/o... is the correct URL. The one in your post didn't work for me.
Today I published my last story for The Texas Newsroom @KUTNews.
We analyzed years of data from Texas prisons w/o AC and found β more often than not β temps would violate standards for county jails.
Jails must keep temps between 65-85Β°. State prisons donβt. www.kut.org/crime-justic... #txlege
Amazing show tonight at Bass Concert Hall - Steve Martin, Martin Short, the Steve Canyon Rangers. Lots of unexpected moments, and a nice tribute to Catherine O'Hara at the end.
Hope you don't stick with names derived from "incel" and 4Chan meme culture for the final product.

The travel safety app I installed for a work trip next week just told me about the anti-ICE rally in Austin on Saturday. Thanks for the reminder!
I found a few pixels of me in a crowd scene in the trailer for the new film, "Enshittification", which you should check out at www.enshittified.com/the-film
Thank goodness. Curt was such an asset, and I'm glad part of his amazing collection is being preserved.
I also tried XUbuntu with a known hack, but it's installer tried to setup the bootloader and crashed, so no luck. Mint had an installer that completed, then I was able to manually boot via grub command line in a way that gave me confidence that I could get it working automatically.
The current Fedora 43 live USB would boot, but it felt glacial, and the OS installer would time out and/or crash.
I had an older Fedora running on it before, as that distribution actually supports this wacky system, and could boot the live USB, but I'd forgotten my user password.
Managed to get a 2012-vintage Asus X205TA laptop running with current Mint XFCE #Linux yesterday. Due to its Baytrail CPU, it boots with 32-bit EFI, but runs 64-bit OSes in its 2GB of RAM. Took compiling my own copy of Grub, following many slightly conflicting guides, and inventing a few steps.
I just discovered something new that makes me mad. I got a notice by mail of a class action settlement today and the deadline for making a claim is yesterday. Someone messed up.
