I have 6 stà:xwelh today. Today is the last day of term two and the last day before spring break, so I guess it’s expected. It’s also still snowing outside. Pretty heavily at the moment.

…reread. Life’s too short for anxious score-keeping. Also, my grandmother is illiterate, and she’s one of the best people I know. Reading is a deep personal consolation for me, but other things console, too.”

“I have not read most of the big 19th—century novels that people consider “essential,” nor most of the 20th-century ones for that matter. But this does not embarrass me. There are many films to see, many friends to visit, many walks to take, many playlists to assemble and many favorite books to… 1/2

Bragging about killing people is depraved. Who does that?

Another teacher volunteered to take my stà:xwelh sledding today, as all the other grade 6 classes had been in the last two days, except mine due to my own health challenges. They had fun. I was a teeny bit envious but also dry and warm in my empty classroom. I will, at some stage, repay the favour.

Or, “we’re not going to answer a journalist’s questions about not answering a journalist’s questions.”

I’ve ordered my copy, albeit through Libro.FM.

Kinda want to learn portrait photography. Been looking at Matika Wilbur’s Project 562 and kinda want to do a project like it, maybe with Indigenous teachers here in BC.

Turns out the public transit buses have to not be running AND the school’s power needs to be out for a unnamed amount of time for a snow day to be called. Who knew?

So-called Canada is supporting a so-called America that doesn’t seem bothered that they bombed a school on the first day. Or that is very much the impression that government and opposition are giving.

Photo from my second floor classroom of a corner of the floor of the new school under construction. They have shoveled a path for workers along the edge. The snow is powdery but also about a foot deep, which I can confirm from walking out to my car this morning.

Snow is almost a foot deep and the roads are slippery. STILL a school day though. Expecting more to fall today and the forecast says through the weekend.

I guess, next year, when the DST ‘spring forward’ time change rolls around, I will have to remember to ask non– BC residents, “What do you mean you sprung forward an hour last night? Were you kidnapped by a UFO? How did you lose an hour? Is this a government cover-up?”
