Another teacher volunteered to take my stà:xwelh sledding today, as all the other grade 6 classes had been in the last two days, except mine due to my own health challenges. They had fun. I was a teeny bit envious but also dry and warm in my empty classroom. I will, at some stage, repay the favour.

Turns out the public transit buses have to not be running AND the school’s power needs to be out for a unnamed amount of time for a snow day to be called. Who knew?

The hypocrisy is staggering

So-called Canada is supporting a so-called America that doesn’t seem bothered that they bombed a school on the first day. Or that is very much the impression that government and opposition are giving.

Photo from my second floor classroom of a corner of the floor of the new school under construction. They have shoveled a path for workers along the edge. The snow is powdery but also about a foot deep, which I can confirm from walking out to my car this morning.

Snow is almost a foot deep and the roads are slippery. STILL a school day though. Expecting more to fall today and the forecast says through the weekend.

I guess, next year, when the DST ‘spring forward’ time change rolls around, I will have to remember to ask non– BC residents, “What do you mean you sprung forward an hour last night? Were you kidnapped by a UFO? How did you lose an hour? Is this a government cover-up?”
