surely other countries with significant renewables do this far better?

thanks i will take some time to read these. Somehow we're accidentally making a case that going green is ridiculously expensive. You can say 'look how much renewable electricity we produce' but someone in (say) the US can reasonably say 'yeah but look at how expensive it is'

i had heard this but i really can't bend my mind around it. what was the rationale? To provide incentive to the windfarm operators?

09.03.2026 14:34 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I understand far better the cost of war, what I don't understand is why our renewables don't (yet) provide as much protection from price volatility as would be ideal

09.03.2026 13:09 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

So I was hoping someone who does understand it better would be able to help explain it

09.03.2026 13:07 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

No I don't think you've understood the premise of what I was asking. Which is why does is UK energy so comparatively expensive, while when have been relatively successful in rolling out renewables. Something in the UK market mechanism is involved, and don't understand that mechanism.

That's an answer to a question but not the question I was asking

09.03.2026 12:42 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

What I don't get, is why if we have so much renewables, is our energy (especially for industrial customers) so bloody expensive? What's the issue with the pricing?

im not sure I really understand why they're choosing a line, that seems wildly out of step with most of their readership (beyond just bashing starmer). Dont get me wrong bashing Starmer is fun, and super easy to do for lots of completely valid reasons but this probably isnt one of them

Could fact the it seems like it's on fire topside, and doesn't appear to be listing suggest an UAV rather than a USV? or are we pretty confident it the latter?

As a not Canadian. Did this guy not get his arse handed to him by carney last year? How is he still a thing? Like in the UK he'd be toast but apparently he's still giving it the big I am, but he's basically just a random bloke.

can i get an expert opinion on the 'explodiness' of LNG tankers please?

For this to be really credible, France (and/or the UK) would need substantially larger nuclear forces than we currently have

You better believe it. These are defensive bombs sir. The Air Launched Cruise Missiles on the B52s will only launch if the detect threating vibes. That. Is. Fact.

Defensive strategic bombing is very very common. Happens all the time. Nothing to see here. At. All
