Really pleased with how this came out after selenium toning.

11"x14" on Ilford FB from a 4x5 of Ilford Delta 100

I'd do better to share more than a cell phone picture but here we are

Love to have the last bit of 8x10 kit just chilling in a "regional distribution center" after almost two weeks of international shipping

Several silver gelatin prints toned with selenium on top of an expandable window screen I got off Amazon on top of two Rubbermaid totes...are those totes? tubs?

Selenium experimentation complete

They look so nice until they curl up like dead bugs once they're dry

It's honestly embarrassing that I never made this association.

I had everything so segmented and compartmentalized that I never considered the value of having both in tandem.

Not only is it not mutually exclusive, it's beautifully complimentary.

Graindrop #9 - A Roll of 35mm Tells the Story There's just nothing like coming back from a trip and reliving that experience through 36 frames, and it's nothing I think I could ever convey with my large format cameras.

Real big fan of smaller film.

I'm certain this topic is not a revelation to the #believeinfilm crowd, but it's something that, if I ever knew, I had forgotten since immersing myself in large format photography

Mat, you hero, you. Thank you very much, I'll start there.

Basically I have some prints I screwed up in the darkroom on my way to a final print so I've got some awesome learning opportunities stacked up in my office ๐Ÿ‘

Much appreciated, as always!

Hi #believeinfilm friends, specifically those with selenium toning experience.

I have some prints on Ilford multi grade fiber glossy I'd like to tone enough to see some visible changes in color as well.

What would be a good dilution and time just to start with, do you think?

Congrats, Tom, that's one hell of a project!

Also a reminder for me to complain less about my incomparably tiny scanning sessions

Definitely didn't spend enough time exploring different framing options, either. I think I got overly excited by the big waves haha

02.03.2026 00:56 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Waves bigger than I've ever seen in that area when I shot this last Friday. I got some cool stuff on the big film but I'll be headed back there to spend much more time with a wider array of lenses.

Also really curious to see this view in different lighting throughout the year.

Working on some cool stuff today

Shot this on 35mm HP5 rated at 800 and developed in 510-Pyro for around a half hour or so.

Graindrop #8 - Large Format Film Photography In the Studio, FP4+, and 300mm Focus Fall-Off A stubborn refusal to get my ass beat by a bunch of flowers

I'm learning a lot about how much light it really takes to make these kinds of shots work- metered at f/128

For anyone who might be interested in additional details:

So this is the "hero image" from my last Substack post. I keep going back to it. It's my second go at botanical photography on large format film, but I'm optimistic.

I bought 5 packs at once and I'm on my second 1L batch where negs have been off.

I bought some of the liquid ecofix mix from the UK that I'll try once I get through my current stockpile but yah, this has been real strange.
