10 months off facebook. still missing the dmc and the electronics photos and some of my old online friends, allthough many have moved to the fedi. also socials use is down from multiple hours a day to maybe 3 hours on mastodon/pixelfed per week. works for me. phew.
that helps a bit. :)
2 weeks without facebook, i miss the "dull men's club" and "i take pictures of electronic parts", and some of my friends, but more and more of them are showing up on the fediverse and bluesky. thats at least SOME good news. <3
now 1 less away!
what are the better platforms for you?
i just deleted my last 2 ig accounts and gave my friends on facebook a heads-up that i will do the same there. downloaded a last archive of my data. this is the third time i delete my accounts, and it will be the last. not going to take part in that hellhole for a second more.

i was so dumb to write the cable destination on the sleeve of the cables, and then stripped all of them for installation. i wrote to the end of the sleeve... well. another lesson learned. :)
protip: document it while doing it. "i will write it down at the end of the day" did not work for me at all.
looking tidy. when i did my main panel, i contemplated doing it the same (going under the rails), but decided against it as it seemed to be the route to a nightmare. chose to go down the left and right side and turn into the breaker rows, which is now a nightmare. success! :)

this actually feels like the beginning of kind of a dream world, where we can have selfhosted stuff that people can interact with from where they are, without keeping endless accounts everywhere. a real interactive web of stuff. the return of the selfhosted blog.
seeing that sites like wordpress now can also federate via achtivitypub, i wish for this to become the standard for any place people might want to follow whatever one might be doing. material/mkdocs-blog for example.
right now, i use friendica/mastodon for actual social networking, and bsky more for pulling in recent world developments. how is everybody else doing it at this time, and how are you planning to continue?
