The hunting thing I can relate to. But you don’t need an assault rifle and armour piercing ammunition to go deer hunting…

It’s something about Americans, or their society.
Less than 1% of UK people own a firearm. In the US it’s almost a third of the population. And the weapons they do own are far more lethal.
Even places with high levels of gun ownership (Canada, Switzerland etc) don’t have the US mass shootings.
🤷🏻♂️
A bit like he used to suffer from bone spurs, eh?
Well, we know in Trumps mind they’re all “losers” anyway, so is he going to care?
Well, that’s an interesting choice of new Iranian leader, Mr President… 🤦♂️
Goodness. Just much sovereignty.
The Brexit mob were so upset about us being an equal partner in the EU, but can barely wait to drop our pants and bend us over for the Americans and Israelis.
Nah, I’m sure Trump is thinking that Democrats kids don’t need any of that. Just give em a rifle and send em in…
My wife says exactly the same, but the scars run deep… !!
Hard Times by name, hard times by nature, eh?
You have my sympathy.
Blimey, Chris Philp sounds like he’s frothing at the mouth on @lewisgoodall.com LBC show. Just a grim attempt to score political points. Whatever happened to politicians being (wo)men of stature and achievement?

Exactly the same here, except I had to do it for O level. Grinding through Great Expectations a paragraph at a time, memorising quotes and themes… I’ve never read another Dickens since.
When exposed like that, just identifies the hypocrisy being spouted at the moment. The US is not a haven of peace and tranquility. How the rich and the poor view the state of the country is completely different.
And at the moment it seems like it’s the idiots that have their hands on the volume controls of media amplification…
Hard to ever admit a mistake of that scale, and I can understand that. But you’d hope he’d have the self awareness to keep quiet about it.
“The public hears the language of change, but sees continuity in practice – continuity with a model that prioritises market confidence, investor reassurance and fiscal orthodoxy over democratic transformation”
Interesting read ⬇️
We need more people of his calibre in charge ⬇️
How do they compare in absolute terms against similar sized ICE vehicles though? Most people have a fixed budget and buy a size of car with the comfort and performance they can afford. If emissions of BEV < PHEV < ICE, it’s still a win, if only a small one, surely?
NEW: Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP tells me that Keir Starmer has acted in the UK national interest and rejects Donald Trump and Tony Blair’s criticism
Says UK/US relationship remains strong. But confirms she hasn’t spoken to Marco Rubio since last weekend.
More on LBC from 10…
Well, that if nothing else, seals it - we should absolutely, definitely, stay out of it at all costs.
Yes, I'd agree with most of that.
Not helped in the UK by the steadily increasing gap between the have's and the have nots. By most measures, too many people _have_ been left behind, while a few have streaked ahead. Terrible for our society.
Errr .. that's exactly what I said.
I suspect it’s a mix of simple solutions to complex problems sounding appealing, and (having tried all the other options with no success) they feel they have nothing left to lose. I fear they may find out the hard way that they do…
This, by @gsamaras is very good. Definitely worth 2 mins of your time ⬇️

Where did a 19yr old (that failed his Ivy League entrance exams) get the money to buy $30m oil?
If the Americans have any sense at all, they’ll take every cent away from anyone associated with Trump or his administration, just to stop them ever coming back.
Merz says he told Trump behind closed doors that:
(a) any trade deal with the EU is either with Spain on equal terms or not at all, NATO/ defence spending being a matter to address separately;
(b) Trump’s criticism of Starmer is unjustified, the UK plays a strong E3 and defence role.
For you, clearly.
Yet you’d have us support Israel, that has prosecuted genocide against the Palestinians, and the USA that has been killing its own and other countries citizens, snatching people off the streets and into concentration camps, with no legal representation?
Interesting.
I’ll shed no tears for the Iranian regime, but that doesn’t alter the fact that there seems to be no legal basis for the Israeli and American attack.
And arguing “the end justifies the means” puts you on a very slippery slope to a very dark place indeed. Because who next? Cuba? Greenland? Us?
