Congratulations! Can't wait to read the full early release preview :)

Sometimes I see "European Digital Sovereignty" and "AWS" in one partnership sentence. No, sorry, you can pick only one from them.
Zero on all emails, except family one. The first and only rule to apply to all emails is to mark them as read to remove these counters annoyance.
Reductionism searches for the root cause. But changing a single thing in one team can affect the other team in surprising ways. Holistic thinking reveals that there may be no single root, but cascading effects in which one problem triggers others, compounding until the system destabilizes.
Hereβs the paradox:
β Systems regularly face challenges they werenβt designed to handle
β Yet we keep using reductionismβtreating entities as just sums of parts while ignoring how those parts interact
β Are you part of the problem or the solution?
β Both.
β ...??
Weβre all in the same system that created the problem. Thatβs the uncomfortable truth. But a good reminder for things we know
Only bad ideas with either a thin client (everything on backend) or a thick client (everything on frontend). Or a bit old-school: the backend serves the frontend with SSR together and keeps the logic (Old Web 2.0 Rails, Django).
Maybe a bit of context why additional point of failure could be bad?
AI dice, you expect a number from 1 to 6, but you receive -1, sqrt(2), -42/17, "AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=wJalrXUtnFEMI/K7MDENG/bPxRfi...", 3
I wrote a photo essay with 20+ of my favourite tech museums in the world, and tried to figure out what makes a great museum in the process.
I am very curious what tech museums you like β and why!

Welcome to the world of Bluetooth headset vulnerabilities. "[We] discovered the custom Bluetooth protocol... pairing was not required.... an attacker within Bluetooth range can connect to the device and manipulate RAM and flash contents without prior authentication."

Scenes from the Office series. Everybody, stay calm! Oh, my God! Okay, it's happening! Everybody stay.calm! Everybody just f****** calm down! Stay f** calm!
Still, the same procrastination-panic feelings about what to write in each 360 performance review for many people to cause less harm within the harmful processes
Donβt you dare walk to another room without the phone! I recognize it and give you 2FA to confirm, and a captcha on top just in case π
the image of the main google search page in the browser, and add on top a few pop ups: 1) cookies consent with long text description with marketing, functional and statistics buttons 2) with age check verification 18+ if you want to touch sensitive topics of software engineering and devops 3) captcha with images and requirement to translate a k-pop song to japanese 4) black friday deal to subscription on pro tool for 3 years
If new AI browsers can help get rid of pop-ups over pop-ups across the whole internet, it might be worth a shot. Or not. And have a good Monday! #ai
I calculated my maximum was 700 km, and then I had my car evacuated for the first time (and only for now), so I don't have good connotations!
No, please don't convert it. It's even worse now after crossing the psychological boundary at 1000 km.
According to the preferences, duelists can choose a weapon: chess, Quake 3 Arena, or Fortnite
It sounds like a gap in my head, what I KNOW that could be much better in our context, and what I CAN implement. It could also be just excuses:)
Poor child with always hungry look:)
XP works. We can't :) ("we" are a subset group of people, who don't)
This is now "experienced 50,252!"
Thank you! I'll try to catch the already bought book. I see the implicit presupposition here that for good observation, we should know how systems work. E.g., we often discuss the element, which can bring more harm than usefulness if brought as a block. Or no one is talking about the learning.
@rebeccawb.bsky.social @mathiasverraes.bsky.social @ruthmalan.bsky.social Thank you for the lovely discussion yesterday! If you can advise, one question followed after the discussion: what could be an approach to choose our own blocks (and understand what's essential for us)? #papersinsystems
Complaint Party - Let's rant, whine and complain together! COMPLAINT PARTY 1 x Ticket
For introvert leaders, if your party is not like this, don't call me.
p.s. Okay, I still can occasionally come...
We have the best code ever if we stop comparing it with other and self-reflect
πββοΈ I'm running the Berlin Half Marathon 2026 for Sea-Watch.org.
They conduct vital search & rescue operations in the Mediterranean, saving lives when others turn away.
21.1km for me = solidarity with their life-saving mission.
Please support me: sea-watch.org/en/join-us/m...

In the Toyota Production System, when workers observed a problem, they stopped the entire conveyor until they resolved the issue. It's contrintuitive, but no, please slow down to speed up sustainably.
Alex, software engineering is not the traffic. Definitely true, but it's an obvious model demonstrating queue theory. Especially things that increase traffic by 10% from the normal flow can lead to rush hour.
99 percent of problems in road traffic can be solved by brakes. Not by fast reaction, and wow, look how the driver made a heroic maneuver. What are we doing in tech? We are trying to solve all local issues by speeding up.
Shall we try harder or this is enough low quality? This is a question!
