i really can not emphasize enough that the most materially impactful thing you can do for trans people right now is hire them.

Ramadan Kareem, yβall
Why bother reading docs no one bothered to write?
Congratulations!
In the years when I lived and went to church in Oakland, the national anthem meant Lift Every Voice And Sing.
This absolute banger of a comment: "You can tell it's an anti-trans study because it's a study about trans people that's actually still funded"
Recite one of Shakespeare's sonnets from memory while turning cartwheels.
Thank you! Yeah, I knitted scarves for some of Hobbes at DR. I think Aaron A. might have one, too. Want a scarf? :)
Hi, I'm pertussis, and these are my good friends, pneumonia and medical incompetence.
A chest detail of a sweater i knitted. The main color is a salt and pepper wool, with contrasting bands in gradients of purple.
Iβm smiling because Iβm happy at having knitting the sweater Iβm wearing. The main color is a salt and pepper wool, with contrasting bands in gradients of purple.
I added thumb holes into the cuffs so I can pull the sleeves down over my hands to help keep them warm.
I finished knitting the sweater thatβs been my project for the past two months. I was between sizes so chose to go up, with the end result being a comfy, slouchy sweater.
I think about LJ from time to time, how much I miss it, how sadly it ended.

Next up in my reading queue: Find Me, by AndrΓ© Aciman. I read it twice when it came out but haven't touched it since. I'm curious to see how it reads from a much different place in life.
Iβm so sorry. Youβre a gem, you deserve to be snapped up.
Thanks, Natali! Thanks, Rey!
I've been out of work for two months. I've interviewed and been passed over. I've applied to jobs thoughtfully and by volume, tapped my networks, and pumped my contacts. I've renewed certifications, gained new ones, and thrown myself head first into AI.
Nothing.
It's hard not to feel like a relic.
Who?
They really do come out of the woodwork for you, donβt they.
Be a dear and swing by Victoria with some oranges, won't you? π (I'm glad you're having a good trip!)
No idea, but itβs gorgeous and I think youβre right about the flat knitting. And yeah, this is a perfect application for the new YYK zipper.
Ah never mind, I see it. Yeah...it's what happens inside that worries me, too.
@lizthegrey.com What's your current assessment?
Fellow holders of Canada PR and US citizenship, where are we risk-wise on crossing the border into the US these days? Is it still OK if you enter via a method with pre-clearance? Is it just a flat no-go? I'm weighing whether to visit my family for US Thanksgiving and would appreciate good knowledge.
They looked it up, baby.
Between this and Heated Rivalry, it's shaping up to be a delightful winter.
If youβre injured, then youβre *supposed* to be resting, my guy.
Iβm not injured, just lazy and watching this yearβs remaster of The Fall (Tarsem, 2006). No big lizards breathing atomic backwash but I feel that was a creative choice, not a narrative restriction.
Not that I do numbers, but still that explains a lot.
Thank you for thinking of me!
Sheri Tepper: The Visitor. Not her best book IMO but it was the one that opened my thinking.
Peter Cashorali: Fairy Tales, and More Fairy & Folk Tales. They were out of print for quite some time but might be available again, check his website to be sure.
Sheri Tepper changed the way I see God. Peter Cashoraliβs books of fairy tales changed how I see gay menβs lives.
