True. And his constant posturing and posing makes me sick to my stomach, as does the twisted theology he has embraced and seeks to use his position to disseminate.

He gets on my tits, as the Brits say. I don't understand how an American goes to the UK, graduates from Oxford, returns to the US, where he's elected to the Senate, & yet still talks like Foghorn Leghorn. Er, unless he really doesn't. I hear there are videos of him talking w/o that fake accent.
This account is proving to be very useful as I follow Stateside primary election results from my perch in Tokyo. I have little doubt that it's just as useful back in the US.
I wish Norway's Forbrukerrådet, or Consumer Council, which often publishes online in English, had a presence on B'sky. It doesn't. Not yet, anyway. But you can learn more about its invaluable work by following 2 of its researchers & policy analysts: @finnmyrstad.bsky.social & @airavn.bsky.social.
Last resort would be to contact your state AG. But in Tennessee? When FB's AI-driven content moderation wrongfully accused me of impersonating an Iowa artisanal charcuterie maker, I considered calling the NJ AG 'cuz he was 1 of 30+ AG signatories to a Tish James-penned letter of complaint to Meta.
I suggest scouring relevant Reddit subreddits for threads about Meta support. Be forewarned that there're plenty in r/facebookdisabledme, r/facebook, r/FacebookAds, r/FacebookBusiness, r/Instagram, r/InstagramMarketing, r/oculus, r/FixMyInstagram, r/AntiFacebook, etc. Not all are helpful. Good luck.
Could be wrong 'cuz I've been off FB for 2 yrs, but there was chatter that a human-staffed help line would be available to select US users. Business accounts only at the time, I believe. If so, no doubt contact info is well hidden. More recent posts mention Meta support ticket #, so some get thru.
On a side note, I truly wish more museums & other cultural institutions would establish a presence on B'sky. The western Europeans & the British seem somewhat ahead of the curve, but a lot of work still needs to be done. Asia is woefully underrepresented in many ways on this platform.
March 12: "Join game collective Reality Reload ... to try your luck as you experience H1B.Life. In this narrative simulation, the chaotic unpredictability of the US H-1B visa system--where chance, timing & bureaucracy determine who stays & who is deported--is ‘reloaded’ as a darkly humorous game."
But, yeah, how ironic. I'm surprised that "woke" entity hasn't been targeted for elimination. Can't imagine that any of the manly men & trad girls who make up Trump's youth brigade have any interest in helping "weak" black & brown people in foreign "shitholes" pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
One of my 4th-grade teachers & her husband spent a few years as Peace Corps volunteers in what was then Zaire. I was her pen pal for a while. Saved a clipping from a local newspaper. Later, a friend who's a few years older would serve in the Dominican Rep. Don't hear much about the Corps now.
As you may have read, I initially signed up for B'sky & began creating curation lists to provide easier access to reputable & trustworthy sources of health & medical info for my compatriots. While some are US nongovernmental professional societies & academic entities, others are foreign gov'ts.
Same here, although I can get pretty much the same results by seeing what's banned in Canada. Red Dye #2 has been long been notorious in the US, for the Franken Berry & other incidents. Of course, such dyes require scrutiny, but RFK Jr. pays them more attention than other, more serious matters.
While I knew Takis caused kids to experience severe stomach pain, I wasn't aware that the snack's food dyes were producing blood-colored stools. Takes me back to my childhood & the scare caused by a breakfast cereal that mimicked symptoms of internal bleeding. www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture...
I enjoyed hot, spicy food as a kid--hotter & spicier than my parents & many peers could endure. But something else is at work here. American kids today grow up w/ a much broader palate than my generation did due to an ever more diverse population. Plus, there are the absurd TikTok-inspired stunts.
Hope to succeed in watching someday. Right now, YouTube thinks I'm a bot. Very frustrating.
Kids love 'em so much they're banned in some schools due to gastric distress that overeating "processed fire" can cause. A doctor reports ER visits for children w/ "stomach aches .. so terrible they're doubled over in pain." Also: red stools mistaken for bleeding. www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-...
Saw these in bodegas, corner shops & Latino-owned grocery stores when we lived in Jersey City, NJ, just a mile across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan. They're in regular supermarkets now. Never got the urge to try them, though. Don't have much of an appetite for sweets & snack foods.
Based on what I've read, it should've been obvious that the victim had only a scant comprehension of English. Law enforcement should have acted accordingly, but so many cops are mired in the "This is America. Speak English." mindset that they lack the patience & skills to deal w/ those who can't.
No, it isn't. But I take hope in the growth of the ever-stronger resistance to Trump, his cronies & the billionaire class. I'm increasingly confident we'll retake both houses of Congress, paving the way for a Democratic president in 2028 & a major cleanup of the judiciary & DOGE-damaged bureaucracy.
Hope you saw the best part, which occurred before the speech even started. Rep. Al Green of Texas held up a sign reading "Black People Aren't Apes," prompting self-styled tough guy & union buster Markwayne [sic] Mullin of Oklahoma to try to rip it away from him. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...
A meme titled State of the Union Bingo depicting a bingo card displaying US President Donald Trump's favorite talking points, false claims, filler words, lies & exaggerations, and friends & enemies. Given Trump's repetitiveness, anyone who chooses to play along will likely find their bingo card full by the end of his speech. He's that predictable.
I'm an American expat who's spent nearly half his life overseas, but I can't escape Trump's lies. Haystack, the streaming app I rely for US & world news, has been airing clips all day. Even my bingo card can't ease the stress of seeing him arrogantly leaning on the lectern & lackadaisically lying.
Didn't see "Stop Making Sense" upon its 1984 release, nor did I catch the 2023 restored IMAX version of what may be the greatest concert film of all time. Nonetheless, I'm sure neither featured David Byrne as roach-infested Johnny Cash lookalike. I do, however, truly love this style of poster art.
SMDH. Trump awarded the US team's goalie, who plays for the NHL's Winnipeg Jets, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Coast Guard rescue swimmer who plucked 165 people, many of them girls, from the floodwaters at a Texas summer camp last July had to settle for the Legion of Merit. Huh?
Equally guilty--and feeling kinda cheated. Which one's Gene?
You're right .It's not country music. It's also not quite what I expected. Good stuff. But I gotta ask: Do people genuinely ask if you're a country act? 'Cuz of the Horses bit?
I met Jeff Bezos face to face, shook his hand & made brief chit-chat. It was early 2001, shortly after the founding of Amazon Japan. I'd just joined the Asahi as business editor. Bezos was in Tokyo for a presser. A former Mainichi co-worker who'd joined Amazon introduced us. Shoulda punched him.
Russia not at fault? "Budapest [will] not support decisions important to Kyiv until Ukraine resumes oil transit to Hungary & Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline. The dispute centres on the ... row over Russian oil supplies. Hungary has also threatened to block approval of a €90bn EU loan for Ukraine."
The proposal hasn't been gaining traction 'cuz police recruitment has been difficult as is. Requiring a degree would drive recruiting down. One possible fix: Activists also want trainees to spend more time at police academy. Problem in NJ is cops commit crimes, get fired, then move down south.
Figures. Not so long ago, activists in NJ, Fla. & elsewhere were calling for a licensing system for law enforcement akin to those for nurses & teachers, in part to prevent bad apples from moving from to dept. to dept. It'd set minimum standards, including associate's degree or, better, a bachelor's.
