Halifax’s housing crisis didn’t just happenβ€”it was built, or not built... Dal, SMU & MSVU have 31,841 students but only 4,200 beds (13%). About 27.6k are pushed into private rentals. Without that demand, vacancy could rise from 2.1% β†’ ~20%. It's time for universities to act. #Halifax #Housing

The Human Genome Project cost taxpayers $3 Billion.

Two decades on, it has generated a staggering return on investment of $1 Trillion, with benefits in medicine, agriculture, energy, the environment, & more.

If you want to boost the economy, funding science is one of the best things you could do.

Definitely an interesting concept!

Very true, but Canadians should have the right to decide how much and where it goes.

@markcarneyforpm.bsky.social Why not introduce a national rent cap tied directly to inflation? It’s time to protect renters from being priced out of their homes while still allowing fair returns for landlords. Stability benefits everyone. #HousingCrisis #RentControl #Canada #cdnpoli

I completely understand, but realistically, we are all just on different levels of the same game.

Not at all, Rick, I'm saying I can't blame the Amazon employees for taking advantage of what they consider to be low rates.

I know what you mean. However, I can understand how each family will do whatever it takes to get ahead. Honestly, it's hard enough for the average person to get by these days, who can blame a person for using the resources they have available.

Very good point. However, when the big ones do happen, Nova Scotia, as an example. The province was completely unprepared to fight the fire. Hundreds of homes lost.

I'm not talking about total greenhouse gas, I'm referring specifically to total C02.

I meant to highlight Canada as a whole. The numbers I had from authoritative sources stated a total carbon sink capacity for Canada around 700–800 Mt COβ‚‚/year, which appeared to offset our reported fossil fuel emissions (570 Mt). Im using data from 2023...

This would have been a great idea, but no one ever did!

I think this adds credibility to the fact that these issues can and should be dealt with at the municipal level. Municipal safe-guards could have easily been put in place to prevent this. Rent-caps, Zoning to start with.

Society trusts medical professionals to be held to a higher standard. It's astonishing how easily that trust can be manipulated...

That's really unfortunate, almost #whitecolarcrime it's amazing how some things are "legal" yet unethical...

Agree

I could see how it could be seen as that. Almost made a stance against it. It's odd because nationalism is typically seen in conservatives. This election I've never seen more Canadan Flags on the houses with Liberal campaign signs.

I'm ok with career politicians. They dedicate themselves to public service. However, Pierre was elected at 25 and did not have enough "Lived experience," so clearly one was the better option to counter Trump.

Agree, but I'm hesitant since someone did just move a business from Canada into the USA.

I know what you mean, I think the problem could be the conservative base. I know a lot of conservatives with liberal views. I would love to see Canada with a balanced budget and a robust social safety net!

His riding did speak...eventually, that ballot was ridiculous. lol 91 people on the ballot! Yes, his riding that he held for two decades sent a very clear message!
