I have been seeing mixed messaging on this but either way in my experience OTC ringworm treatment does not usually work nearly as well as prescription antifungals. So either way going to the doctor is recommended!

All that being said, DON'T PANIC
This outbreak is small and Ringworm isn't a new fungus. If you get it you're not going to die, it's just going to be an annoyance. Just make sure to be mindful for symptoms, practice good hygiene, and communicate openly about sexual health with your partners.
Lots of people don't know this, but athlete's foot and ringworm are the same fungus in different places. If you experience symptoms focus on not spreading the fungus to other parts of your body, your clothing/bedding, and other people. Re-infection is very real and contributes to longer cure times
I've had ringworm before and it sucks. Communicate openly with partners if you notice any rashes like this, use CLEAN towels when sitting on public surfaces in bath houses and gay bars, and don't walk barefoot in common public spaces.
It's not dangerous, but it is super annoying to cure.
Hey yinz, a new outbreak of sexually-transmitted ringworm has been happening in Minnesota. This infection is perfectly treatable and will not harm you if treated, but it spreads easily and takes a while to go away.
If you notice any ring-shaped rashes that itch see your doctor ASAP!
