I really enjoyed this biography of John Muir who I was sort of vaguely aware of but couldn't have told you much about. Extraordinary life and relevant to today's debates about nature, wildness and human needs of all kinds.

We had a savings scheme for those so we added 50p a week or something and then when they came round we could choose a book. So exciting!

Llandudno Pier is the image I have in my head any time seaside piers are mentioned because we spent so many holidays there when I was small.

It's very good.

Honestly, the core of my classic fiction collection dates from that period. It was a brilliant way into a new world.

My incredibly on brand #WorldBookDay memory is using the £1 vouchers we got when I was in secondary school to buy Penguin £1 classics. This habit was enabled by my school librarian who used to surreptitiously give spare vouchers to the bookish kids. I still have most (if not all) of my choices.
