John Muir. The Scotsman who saved America's wild places. By Mary Colwell. The cover photo shows a bearded man sat amongst trees, rocks and water.
I really enjoyed this biography of John Muir who I was sort of vaguely aware of but couldn't have told you much about. Extraordinary life and relevant to today's debates about nature, wildness and human needs of all kinds.

I do not think the police have ever raided the Quakers and been on the correct side of history
We had a savings scheme for those so we added 50p a week or something and then when they came round we could choose a book. So exciting!
Llandudno Pier is the image I have in my head any time seaside piers are mentioned because we spent so many holidays there when I was small.
It's very good.
Honestly, the core of my classic fiction collection dates from that period. It was a brilliant way into a new world.
I hope you used your powers for good π
My incredibly on brand #WorldBookDay memory is using the Β£1 vouchers we got when I was in secondary school to buy Penguin Β£1 classics. This habit was enabled by my school librarian who used to surreptitiously give spare vouchers to the bookish kids. I still have most (if not all) of my choices.
The pilot. You generate ideas, shape possibilities, and shape direction through vision and storytelling.
Did the @charitycomms.bsky.social strategic communication styles quiz (seeing as strategic charity comms is my thing) and it turns out I'm a pilot. Which is a much more exciting job title so perhaps I should add it to my bio.

Mslexia magazine.
Always a good day when this lands on the mat! @mslexia.bsky.social
Coming towards the end of this and I've enjoyed it *so* much. I must read some more Trollope.
Ours in the deep south (well, Bedfordshire) has burnt off already so it may just be a matter of time.
Ugh.
1 and 7 (which is probably an odd combination!)
Ready, but apparently not able π
Definitely going to block tomorrow out as a writing day.
I don't either.
Iβve written for @theosthinktank.bsky.social about Ramadan, informal RE and the great religious educator that is Pep Guardiola.
Had a long overdue haircut today so I no longer look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards.

After two very bitty days I'm definitely ready to tackle something chunky tomorrow.
N&S is one of my favourites!
Providing a strategic answer to the 'help, we don't know what to post' problem is definitely taking an early lead in the what I'm being asked for stakes so I've added a post to my website explaining a little bit about how I approach content pillar work.

There's a weirdly Lenten vibe about the whole thing.
π¨ It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

We're planning on doing that when we finish Small Prophets (which we're eeking out rather than binging)

It's adjacent to his baffling unwillingness to let people know what he stands for on almost any policy issue you care to mention.
I have been known to do this....
I've refreshed my monthly round up to focus on three pieces of storytelling that have caught my eye.
This monthβs stories come from Ancient Egypt, BrontΓ« country (donβt worry, itβs not yet another review of that film) and from communities across the UK.
