He wasn't there with the permission of any law enforcement agents, but had gained the trust of the family who allowed him to be there. 2/2
Just to clarify, Alan Diaz who made this photo for AP had spent months cultivating a relationship with the Gonzalez family. He was tipped off that the house was going to be raided and ran inside to be ready when authorities broke down the door. 1/2
Portland Oregon's Union Station
20+ years ago when I was living in Portland, I took a photograph there that I loved that was lit by those neon signs. Guessing that wall of payphone is no longer there.
Here's a litte thing about art, words, fall, nostalgia, baseball, lost innocence, and data centers -- all with a soundtrack included. Grateful to @stephenvoss.bsky.social and his photograph for taking me down this path.
I hope you'll read -- and listen.

Just to be blunt, if you want Wired and 404 and The Verge to employ reporters who understand the memes on bullet casings and can connect them to gaming culture while having the legal and support resources to deal with waves of harassment when we do it⦠you have to subscribe and pay for the work
In the Shadow of the Cloud - an exhibit at the UVA School of Architecture's Campbell Elmaleh Gallery
For the past two years, I've been photographing the data centers in northern Virginia, which has more of these buildings than anywhere else in the world.
The exhibit opens tomorrow, more information here: www.arch.virginia.edu/events/shado...
A historic African American cemetery in Manassas, Virginia. The cemetery was disturbed, with nearby trees cut down and gravestones toppled during construction of a nearby power substation, on February 13, 2025.

Data centers close to a housing development in Arcola, Virginia. The homes were built in 2018 and used to back up to farmland. In 2020, the construction of the data centers began.

Very excited to announce my collaboration with the University of Virginia's School of Architecture and MIST lab for their new exhibit, "In the Shadow of the Cloud" which opens tomorrow at the Elmaleh Gallery at UVA.
Deeply grateful to Brian O'Neill for his thoughtful review of my book.

A few images of the xAI data center in Memphis, Tennessee. The data center has attracted controversy recently after it was discovered that they were operating far more gas turbines to provide power than they'd previously agreed to.
Thanks for sharing this, Jason.

The light hasn't changed in 160 years. I spent a morning in Mathew Bradyβs old DC studioβthe same place where Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and Ulysses S. Grant sat for portraits.

Luke's story tells the real cost of that day and the remarkable story of an officer who loved the Capitol and was beloved by those who worked there.
Please read Luke Mullins' story about Capitol Police Officer Howie Liebengood, who took his own life on Jan. 9th, 2021.
This is a story that could only be told with the commitment of family and Iβm grateful for their trust and openness.

Huge thanks to the OG blogger, Jason Kottke for featuring my book. I spent two years photographing these bonsai trees, often thinking of the generations of bonsai masters who tended to them.
Iβm down to my last few boxes of books, after which theyβll be gone forever.
Thank you and yes! We were there this past Spring and spent an hour there in that space. These places feel hard to photograph because they felt hard to understand, but it was not difficult to see their beauty.
The print copy arrived yesterday and it's still an unparalleledΒ feeling to hold a copy of Time Magazine in your hands, with a photo you made on the cover.Β
New to posting here, happy to answer any questions about what goes into this sort of shoot.
