Interesting. I’ve seen them go from white to greenish/yellowish darker shades as they age.

Are these shriveled false turkey tails I see on the log? That would indicate this is golden ear as it parasites false turkey tails and witches butter parasites crust fungi. They both look the same otherwise.
I don’t get why the focus is always on American lives? How about humanity lives?

Red cage fungus / basket stinkhorn (Clathrus ruber).
It smells like rotten meat and attracts flys and wasps that flutter inside the cage as a means to disperse its spores.
