Inside the Dirty, Dystopian World of AI Data Centers The race to power AI is already remaking the physical world.

"This is Colossus: a data center that Musk’s artificial-intelligence company, xAI, is using as a training ground for Grok... if run at full strength for a year, Colossus would use as much electricity as 200,000 American homes"

Significant compensation, convictions, and imprisonment all need to be on the table.

Corporations see their fines as acceptable risk, just a cost of doing business, far outweighed by the profits.

International corporations need to face the risk of losing the right to trade in Australia.

Media figure Antony Catalano stood down after assault charge The co-owner of national newspaper company ACM has been stood down from his position after appearing in court, with police alleging he assaulted a woman and swung a clothes iron at her head.

An officer told the court Mr Catalano had been experiencing "recent mental health issues" and was admitted to a psychiatric ward four weeks ago after using drugs.
He also called the police on himself later.
Not so easy to judge.

This is a three million dollar missile from a two hundred million dollar jet that costs twenty thousand an hour to fly. They use it to destroy people who live on ten dollars a day.

Single panel editorial cartoon. Trump is taking a bath, his big pink arse blocking the straight of Hormuz as he is playing with his toy missiles. Behind him tankers are blocked up and being attacked, to the north Iran is burning, to the south are explosions in the Arab states and in front of him are dollar signs that are suffering the same fate as the tankers.

Screenshot of the article which reads:

There is a certain duality to Kilgour’s failure of imagination; it only fails sometimes. The former deputy secretary of the Department of Social Services Serena Wilson was found, correctly, to have engaged in serious corrupt conduct for her role in misleading the Commonwealth Ombudsman about the legality of the robodebt program in 2017, two years after it began.

In whacking Wilson, Kilgour appealed to matters of β€œcommon sense and ordinary human experience” as well as quite correct observations about the role of senior public servants.

β€œBut it is only to be expected that Ms Wilson, as a deputy secretary, would have had systems, procedures and assistance in place to isolate more important communications from the dross, and thus to devote to the former the time and attention they deserved,” she writes.

Fair. Not so for Campbell, though.

Campbell, Kilgour says, was far too busy to be across the detail even though it was Campbell who first briefed the concepts of robodebt to Scott Morrison β€” not the more senior DSS secretary β€” and who directed that the briefs be prepared, and who was so intimately involved in the development of the policy that later became the cabinet submission.

Kilgour states as fact something that could only have come from Campbell’s testimony about the development in 2015: β€œMs Campbell’s focus was elsewhere on the Welfare Payments Infrastructure Transformation program (WPIT)1397 which was a vast program involving the establishment of new arrangements and IT upgrades with multiple other agencies.”

Her focus was elsewhere. Says who? Campbell.

Whole chunks of Campbell's evidence are taken at pure face value. Not even in the 'I've weighed this and considered it' sense but in the 'just state it as fact in passing' sense. www.crikey.com.au/2026/03/13/n...

After nearly three years, the robodebt report’s secret chapter has been unsealed. What does it reveal? Officials named who drafted unlawful debt recovery scheme - and who royal commissioner referred to corruption watchdog for further investigation

All of which was avoidable - l still think Campbell et al got away with blue murder…

Just imagine how many others there are that we never hear about.
It's well known for instance, that the eastern suburbs of Sydney (Vaucluse etc) is a DV hotspot. For those who don't know Sydney, that's where loads of the very rich live.

If you mean universal basic income when you say living wage, then yes, but if not, that list is missing UBI, which is the #1 most important policy for freedom because of the power it provides to refuse low wages and poor conditions, and the power it provides to strike. It also supports unpaid work.

It's Russia, not America, that benefits from Trump's Iran war | Opinion Putin has zero motivation to help America end its war on Iran, because Russia is cashing in on the conflict.

@bychrisbrennan.bsky.social:

To recap: Trump starts a war, then Iran retaliates with Russia's help, driving up the price of gas, and America responds by helping Russia sell more oil, so Russia can keep killing Ukrainians.
