Hey look, Gabe Newell has put plenty of kids through school. Their parents sell yachts
i think ive paid gabe newell more from the proceeds of my games than i've paid the government, but gabe doesn't pave my roads or fund my schools or feed the kids in my community
probably a few overdue conversations to be had about maybe paying less gabes before we pay less taxes or something
Black and white photo of Marjane Satrapi with the quote: "The world is not divided between East and West. You are American. I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same."
Once again.

people will be like "indies will save the games industry" and then refuse to buy an indie game until it's in a steam sale for 99 cents
I have to say the thing I am most grateful for is Pokemon's cross-generational appeal; going to TCG swap meets & 'gym' events with my granddad, who had his own decks/collection & was a proficient player. He's gone now, but Pokemon persists, and is now one of the brands I most share with my daughter.

Gamers these days are ridiculous. So entitled and needy, so quick to flip out over the smallest little thing. And you have to explain and hold their hand through everything like it's the first game they ever played in their life. Look at this. No respect for the hardware, no respect for the craft
Interesting how grounded and βrealisticβ the artwork feels in later Calvin & Hobbes because Watterson fundamentally understood how to rotate bodies in space. But zoom in on the feet and hands here and itβs basically Peanuts, super flat and βcartoonyβ. Such a light touch!
I'm looking to speak to games industry professionals based in Europe, Canada, Japan, Korea, etc., about your concerns with potentially travelling to the United States right now.
If you'd like to talk, I can be reached securely at michael@insider-gaming.com or via Signal at mikestraw.15
