Not just "security" against other nation states, but against illegal operations by federal agencies. For instance even without explicit data-sharing or a backdoor, the FBI or similar could probably hack into traffic and ring cameras.

With the recent news that Israel has hacked into and has been using Iranian traffic cameras, I'm surprised I haven't seen any headlines about the security risks of ubiquitous cameras in the US.
