I wrote about the first national book banning bill, which effectively seeks to erase trans people. At the end I include a link to let your reps know that you oppose this bill and all it stands for. lithub.com/why-we-must-...

Don't let the American government decide what books you and your family are allowed to read.

William and I are chasing the top fundraising spot for the @kcpetproject.bsky.social 5K - and we just slipped into second place. π±

I got to celebrate turning 40 with my cousins and @natechamberlain.com with a trip to Italy. We did SO MUCH. Here's Part 1!
Had 14 people at book club tonight. Maybe three of them liked the book. Apparently, 60-80 year olds donβt care for romance (as some of them put it). But we still had a lively and engaging discussion!
Itβs crunch time for summer reading planning and Iβm also putting together my libraryβs How-To Festival, so this week has left my brain totally fried.

If you watched THE LIBRARIANS, turn your anger into action by donating to my fundraiser to support EveryLibrary. Donate at least $5 and Iβll toss a book banner into the litterbox to await a tribute from my cats. gofund.me/9c5f9f290
If THE LIBRARIANS on PBS Independent Lens airs past your bedtime tonight, donβt worry. You can also stream it via the PBS app and on the PBS Independent Lens YouTube channel starting at noon EST Monday. @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social
To close out 2025, @natechamberlain.com and I went full on Christmas with the Kranks β and we donβt regret it!
Looking forward to another year of running events with @natechamberlain.com β 23 upcoming runs including 5kβs, 8kβs, 10kβs and 4 half marathons!
Every semester we get a work study student from the SPED department. We just interviewed our new student and she was thrilled to tell us how often she comes to the library, how much she loves it, and how she hopes to get a βreal library job not just a work study job.β No, Iβm not crying.
Ebooks cost public libraries money. Public libraries should be properly funded.

Iβm registered to attend the #PLAconference in April, but Iβm absolutely FLOORED that, as far as I can see, @ala-pla.bsky.social has yet to post or send out a statement on what has happened and is happening in Minneapolis. Seriously makes me reconsider and question where leadership stands on this.

Minizine on using whistles in community support work, including local Buffalo resources - namely the phone number for Buffalo Immigrant and Refugee Defense - 716-222-2190
ICE is terrorizing our communities, including here in Western New York. A strategy adapted from activists in Chicago is to wear and use whistles to alert the community to the presence of ICE. This free zine provides some guidance for your community support work.

As a librarian, especially this: ββ¦books are a weapon against loneliness. Putting them in the right hands lets people see one an-other. It makes us ... better to one another. I think that's a worthy thing to do."
What a year! @williamottens.com and I have been on the run. π Check out our 2025 recap: williamandnate.com/2025/12/16/f...
Howβs my holiday vacation going? Almost drove an ATV off a large bluff in Grand Turk. Thankfully, βAll Terrainβ excludes dense thickets of shrubs.
