In an effort to win this contest, China is building hegemony by exporting not just its green products but also in a structural shift exporting its technology, engineering, supply chains, and financing.

I had to use this all the time in my days working for European Alternatives.
It’s basically a play-by-play script of an event that makes clear who has to do what and when and what materials they need to make sure it’s doable.
Very excited to listen to this. Following the election of Trump, Berlin tech workers started to fight for power through the initial step of the Works Council. Years later it’s more clear than ever a WoCo isn’t enough as most WoCos are confronted by employer union busting. Social partnership is dead.

The feeling and texture of crisis has never been so visceral for so many.
Our discourse and our action must meet it — or else we fail in the first lesson of organizing: meet people where they are at.
This demands we think big, plan big, and scale big.
Our hypothesis can’t be that the sum of our workplace struggles will produce a better world without needing to actively envision this world beyond “better.”
This is, in the final instance, an action+action+action (ad infinitum)=victory strategy.
The task of trade unionists in this conjuncture is to connect the crisis of the workplace with the overlapping crises that unfold outside it & to highlight the closure of other imagined roads to change.
There is no external political force that can help. They’ve all been defeated.
It’s just us.
Una de las cosas más jodidas de la segunda presidencia de Trump es que todos sus planes terroríficos eran públicos (Project 2025), poca gente se los quiso creer, y ahora los están siguiendo al pie de la letra.
The entire objective and method of a 1:1 in workplace organizing is to highlight the agency of the worker and the dependency of the employer. every plan presented begins and ends w/ the only way out of powerlessness is organization. WoCos & CLA/CBAs are just mechanisms to exercise that power.
Maybe not such a good idea to pin our energy transition (and economic development) on the limitless expansion of the US tech sector.
'The developments have stoked questions about the amount of money big tech companies have been investing in AI models and data centers.'

There’s no doubt that the quota that ICE agents in the US have to satisfy will not only amplify the racism that overtly structures the Trump administrations deportation initiative, but amplify the fear beyond those populations coded as “illegal.” This was never about legality.
and point the finger at the solution — expanded and fuller democracy in the workplace and in society as a whole. They don’t blame boogeymen like migrants or the gay agenda, but at the oligarchs themselves and their unchecked power.

This is why unions are frontline organizations in the fight against fascism. They point the finger at the real problem — the distribution of power and the enormous inequality it necessarily produces —
13/x
The road from the boardroom to the kanzlei des führers is being revealed, especially as neo-fascist thinkers like Curtis Yarvin who have the ears of oligarchs, declare that the nation state needs a monarchy that does away w/ democratic pretensions, and should be run like a startup by tech bros.

Yesterday it was trade unionists, queer people, Jews, sinti -romani, intellectuals, & communists. Today it’s trade unionists, queer people and their “agenda”, migrants l, environmentalists, scientists, and communists.

What makes fascism necessarily even more destructive is how it gaslights people into believing that power-hoarding oligarchs aren’t to blame for the social calamity that unfolds as power & resources pool at the top of society’s ladder, pointing the finger instead at most vulnerable.
10/x
Fascism then is simply the extension of this logic to society as a whole, with the loss of any liberal pretensions of pluralism, multilateralism, or democracy.

— all at the command of oligarchs who govern from the top down and for their own short sighted benefit. The connection between anti-democratic organization and the accumulation of capital are intimately tied with one another in the workplace.
8/x
The financialization of shelter has produced housing crises across most of the global north’s urban cores. And the massive armies of labor flocking to the world of tech are quite often producing socially destructive or useless technology despite the ecological cost of such production
7/x
But is that the case? The production and consumption of oil and other fossil energies are both lucrative and scientifically determined to be destructive of the biological conditions human existence depends on.

and 2) it is their prerogative because supposedly they know best given their capacity to attract and generate capital and value. The underlying argument is that what accumulates capital is fundamentally good.
5/x
This workplace oligarchy governs under two fundamental premises 1) it is the oligarchs whose prerogative it is organize human and natural resources (reified in the form of fixed capital, ie machines, real estate and land)

That is, a small group of people, such as the c-level and/or the shareholders and investors unilaterally decide from the top-down what the rules of the game are, making everyone below them compete against each other for security. It’s a naked hierarchy without any checks or balances.
