Steps in Trump war rhetoric:

1. We don’t have to play by the rules in war

2. We won the war

3. If you go by the rules I just made up we won

4. No fair

Chris Murphy: “This is the most incompetent, incoherent war America has fought in the last 100 years — this administration has no idea what they are doing

I have great sympathy for our soldiers & our military leaders — they are being given directions by a senile old man who is losing his mind”

I got rid of rust in a few different ways. Naval jelly was the simplest, though you want to be careful with it because it's also corrosive and grumpy if it goes where you don't want it to.

It's also pink, so it already has something in common with your bike. :)

Articles by Sheldon Brown and Others This site contains a number of useful articles on bicycling and bicycles, plus links to other bicycle-related sites on the Internet.

If you can find one, look for a copy of "Glenn's Complete Bicycle Manual" by Clarence Coles and Harold Glenn. A very thorough book on older bikes. It helped me restore a beloved 1973 Schwinn a few years back.

Sheldon Brown's old web articles are great too on many, many obscure bike topics. :)

Instead of blowing up things in Iran, the federal government could have spent $11 billion in a week paying the entire household incomes for everyone in these counties. www.ms.now/opinion/trum...

Grandma jailed after AI error linked her to crime in state she never visited: lawyer The charges were later dismissed after bank records showed she was in Tennessee at the time

Facial recognition software identified a suspect for bank fraud, even though she was 1,200 miles away at the time. She was jailed for half a year without bail, lost her home, and once freed wasn't even returned to her own state.

Did prosecutors just not bother to do the most basic fact-checking?...

Local zoning is the way! A lot of these are being stopped or stalled by neighborhood organizing.

These warehouses often need to be purchased, permitted, approved for occupancy and specs. Each one of those steps can be interrupted.

Ppl are pressuring corps not to sell, counties to deny permits, etc

Finally, we can automate awful boring tasks like singing and making music, so we have more time to spend on fun things like manual labor at the cruelty factory.

At midnight Aragorn stands at the Stone of Erech. ‘Oathbreakers, why have ye come?’

A distant voice cries, ‘To fulfil our oath and have peace.’

‘When all this land is clean of the servants of Sauron, I will hold the oath fulfilled, and ye shall have peace and depart for ever.’

I wonder what percentage of Americans knows that the CIA helped overthrow a democracy in Iran in 1953, installing a brutal dictator who tortured and murdered people. Republicans keep citing the 1979 Islamic Revolution as if that was the start of U.S.-Iran hostilities. Go back 26 years earlier.

Meme: Shut the Fuck Up, Greg.

Text: A couple and their child were looking over our Marvel characters plush at my work, right? And the dad turns to the little girl and asks, "Which Marvel character do you want?"
His little girl, maybe 9 replies, "Mmm, I think I want Captain Marvel."
Dad makes a face, and says, "How about you choose a real super hero and not a little princess?"
Me and my coworkers are about to smack down on this man when his wife makes a FACE and says, "Honey, you get Captain Marvel." Then turns to her husband. "Shut the FUCK up, Greg."
And that has become out new motto for dealing with misogynists at work.

Shut the fuck up, Greg.

Ex-Israeli Official to Netanyahu: “Update us… what are the goals of the war? What have we achieved? Do you, your wife, your children run to the shelter during attacks? Or are you in some underground bunker that protects you from missiles… and from the wrath of the citizens?”

Seems troubling.

More troubling would be the idea that the Administration might have bombed Iran without expecting this.

The irrational strongman we’ve been warned about is here His name is Donald J. Trump.

Now we - like Iraq, North Korea, Iran, Russia - are being led by "an ill-informed violent despot who seems to enjoy carnage for its own sake, and who has the power and the will to project terror and violence anywhere on earth for any reason or for none."

Maybe we ought to depose him.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.
Sahar Delijani, Iranian author

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.

I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.

since the U.S. and Israeli strikes are framed as "targeted operations against terrorist infrastructure," rather than a full-scale invasion, the Kremlin interprets this as a case that does not fall under the collective defense provisions.

The Next Terrorist Attack And What Comes After (Updated)

Modern tyranny is terror management.
I wrote this essay in April 2025 and updated it in November. I'm posting it again now because my fear of this scenario has continued to grow.
