Does anybody know what footpath works in Bagenalstown this is about? I thought it might be the Bagenalstown Public Realm Project, but that seems to be finished?

Europe's T-Ten programme, which aims to connect EU member states by land, air and sea, has a policy that "major airports with over 12 million passengers annually must be connected by long-distance rail, making rail a competitive alternative to domestic feeder flights."

Action 72: "Assess need for increased capacity-building
and access to necessary specialist skills in support of
sustainable mobility delivery."

At least officials are aware of the slowness of it all... the policy, however, is another clear sign the Government is not taking climate action seriously.

Me thinking while reading the action plan on Sustainable Mobility: "Action 71 has a 2030 deadline for a new DMURS? That's a very slow timeline for something that was to be reviewed already? How much of it is because it's some of the same people in charge of many of these policies?" ...and then...

How often do you cycle? One in four Dubliners cycle at least once a week, according to the NTA.

A photo of the soon-to-be two-way cycle path on Nassau Street. Two or three plastic bollards are at the cycle track at each junction. There are people walking, cycling and scooting in the distance; there is also traffic in the distance.

The contra-flow cycle path on Nassau Street has been widened for a few months now, getting it ready to be a two-way cycle path.

Was there a demonstrable need for these bollards?

Why do surveys show strong public support for cycle paths, but Facebookers call it “fake news”? -- "Leadership means pushing past the noise — and over the Hill of Hysteria," says a leading mobility academic. The National Transport Authority has just published the latest findings of its Walking and Cycling Index for 2025 research which led The Irish Times to report that "the vast majority of residents across the State’s five main cities want increased investment in cycling infrastructure, even when that results in less road space for cars." That and other news reports have led many on social media to cry foul!

One Street, Two Countries: Cycling the Nieuwstraat/Neustraße This post is especially for those who are intrigued by unusual borders. I cycled up and down a single street that lies in two countries: Germany and the Netherlands. The road existed long before the border was drawn on a map, which explains why there is hardly any visible difference between the two sides. People speak a very similar dialect, and family ties and other close connections span the border.

I cycled a street that lies in two countries — German cycle paths on one side, Dutch on the other. A border once marked by barbed wire is now deliberately invisible. A new post, with two videos.

Seriously, how do you do that much damage driving at 20mph? The answer of course, is you don't. Pink Pedalway, the Avenues.

Artane to Clontarf active travel project expected to break ground later this year Dublin City Council's 2.6km Gracefield Road to Vernon Avenue Active Travel project is now expected to go to construction in late Q2 to early Q3 this year. The route will link Artane and part of the Howth Road to St Anne's Park and Clontarf, connecting residential areas to schools, parks, and the coast. Or almost to the coast, as a final section in Cloftarf is expected to be covered by a separate public realm project at the south end of Vernon Avenue.

Cork cycle lane objector set up GoFundMe for “legal advice” and “battle”, but project followed long-established planning process -- Footpath renewal work called "Gaza destruction project that is active travel". "They just do not want this place turned into a building site for Green Party or whatever kind of EU mindless bureaucrat cycle lanes put in here," said a local objector, Morris Sheehan, who was interviewed on RTE Radio One's Today with David McCullagh earlier this week when the show covered the Cork City's Knockpogue Avenue and Knockfree Ave active travel project.

It's worth saying that applying 30km/h on these roads is radical compared to what even the last Irish Govt was planning -- the guildlines issued made it clear it was not a blanket limit as claimed by some reports etc: bsky.app/profile/moda...

Same here:

"In The Hague, some parties view a 30 km/h speed limit as unfeasible, undesirable, and a form of harassment... examples from both the NL and abroad demonstrate that there are only advantages, including for drivers. The only thing that's lost is the feeling of being able to drive fast..."
