Oh weβre back on this shit again
There should be a float that lists all the companies who are cowards while playing Beckβs Loser.
Oh great a reply guy large language model
Captain Haddock looking very frazzled, saying, βWhat a week, huh?β Tintin leans into the frame and says, βCaptain, itβs Wednesday.β Snowy is very excited about the drink he has found.
Thereβs been so many days in a row lately
Why is every search for "xyz library alternative" come up with a dev dot to or Medium article titled "I made the best library ever, it's SO MUCH better that regular library."
And I look up the library and it has been abandoned for years.
This is how AI gets you. First it starts with flattery. π€
Shifting my mentality in this way was probably the single biggest thing that led to a lot of growth for me as a developer. Itβs insane how many doors one misses by being stuck in the Imposter syndrome headspace.
Iβm a throw everything, until I realize that I didnβt pack enough clothes so then I get forced to organize whatβs still wearable. π«
I do think both you guys have really fair takes, and honestly, I wish it was like that too.
I agree as well, I think if anything weβre all just a little frustrated given the current state of legal enforcement against major corporations. But the fact of the matter is, if info is out there, it can be replicated even beyond what our intentions and controls are and we do have to accept it.
Iβm not saying itβs a good thing that massive companies are leveraging our public data to train models that which they then profit of, but the biggest step one can take is just putting that content not out there to begin with. If thereβs no data, thereβs nothing to scrape.
A) Iβm just gonna pretend that you didnβt go for name calling there & take your response at face value
B) You want to explain these methods to stop web scraping? Because those can be likely completely bypassed using tools like Selenium. And believe me when I say this, model trainers are using them.
It only gets compounded too when youβre unsure if itβs a missed requirement, a bug, or PEBKAC. π΅
I mean this is always going to happen. Thatβs just the nature of a public space. If you donβt want people to leverage publicly accessible content, why post it publicly? If I say something outside and someone copies me, like what am I gonna do, tell them not to say it lol?
funny how people are getting bent about bluesky's public data APIs being used for AI training
public data is.... public.... data
if you dont want your data to be...public, don't make it... public
Frame from The Simpsons where everyone turns around to look at Bart after a bad take.
βCan we get a Christmas bonus?β
Users who provide crappy feedback. (Like βthis is brokenβ, ok like how though π©)
Too real. We all got enough shit to deal with day to day. A virtual blocklist should be like the bottom priority for any sane person lol.
Remember. Nuance isnβt cool anymore. π
LG ThinQ app notification that just says βTimeβs up.β
What an ominous notification? Like, is LG coming for me now? π
Sounds efficient. I expect nothing less from the Head of DOGE. π
This just in! Publicly available service can be scraped!
I think itβll likely settle into predominately βwestern valuesβ with sub-groups/communities each enforcing their own values within them. Kinda like what the @blacksky.app has done, they have 0 tolerance for anti-black racism especially.
The lists feature here is definitely a banger. Huge fan. π
What βstingsβ? Woof. Yeah there definitely is no point in having any discussion with you. Wishing you the best.
Iβm an AppleCare YOLO kinda person. π
