Came across the phrase "cognitive DDOS" to describe our present culture.
Understood instantly what it meant.
This is a really genuinely useful and interesting thread that debunks an alleged example of Muslim intolerance in London. The truth? Several American far right Islamophobic preachers stood and hurled abuse at Muslims for days and days and experienced zero violence as a result.

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.
Hundreds of kids are still detained.
Weβll let the childrenβs words speak for themselves. π§΅

I wrote about my experiences being sexually exploited as a child, and what we need to do to make sure AI doesnβt make that a reality for millions of children.

To pick just one thing: here is the full list of benefits Britain earned by joining in and promoting Americaβs War on Terror:
- It made us complicit in war crimes
- Tony Blair got some photo ops with George Bush II
- Tony Blair got a standing ovation in Congress
Thatβs it. Hope you enjoyed it.
A timeline visually representing the advice from my post, emphasising how dramatically and reliably having more time, with a testable build, converts to your game being better and your studio being safer.
I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.
Did you know you can sing βThe Lion Sleeps Tonightβ whenever you feel like it? Itβs literally a whim away.
Tomorrow evening itβll be my annual duty to vaguely shepherd the activity on the #duvetknowitschristmas hashtag and urge people to give small sums to charity. 7.30pm? Something like that?
I knew someone would have mentioned Ubik in this thread already!
Super interesting presentation on there about optical technology. Something we all rely on every day and take for granted.
Takes me back to the early days design wise! Ended up staying for the content, the YouTube presentation was so interesting. Really enjoyed it.
"We've got a lot of humans in the world, and we don't particularly like them," Compton said. Why would we want to create a technology that just gives us a whole bunch more humans?
One of my favorite lines about AI β not LLMs but human-like digital intelligence β was said to me almost a decade ago by @galaxykate.bsky.social for a piece I wrote for Vice. www.vice.com/en/article/w...
Pretty disappointed in both @humblebundle.com and especially in @girlswhocode.bsky.social. Please teach girls how to code, don't push them into generative AI. That won't build their skills. Prioritize foundational programming skills and awaken their interest. "Tired of long days writing code"???
"Iβm already wondering whatβs in my inbox in case Claude Opus 4 turns on me for writing this devastating exposΓ©. So why is AI still so useless at shopping?"

I had a go at this a few years ago for a music re-release, was a fun project. The materials part was super satisfying. (Also done in b3d) Still my favourite format!

Scapeshift is a generative groovebox that DOESN'T use AI.
This has been my recovery project and the beginning of an exciting world of possibility which I hope to devote my efforts to going forward.

Talking to trans women in tech can help anyone who doubts that women experience the world differently; they can provide you with A/B before/after results.
Treat all women in tech better and believe them about their experiences:
