Was Final Fantasy VII too linear?
Ty and Aidan dig into OPM's 1997 review of Final Fantasy VII and look at how its criticism's that the classic game is "too linear" match with creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's cinematic ambitions.
shut up telephone don't tell me how loud I am allowed to listen to @funfactorpod.com
I always found this critique to be so strange & it's the same reason I love Remake & not Rebirth.
The Midgar section is so tight & compelling narratively while showing you the ropes. It goes off the rails when you aimlessly search for Sephiroth for an entire disc, before finding its footing again.

Happy to make my @mmorpg.com debut with this piece looking at the PS5 release of Avowedβa game I've been enviously watching from afar because I didn't have a console that could play it.
